Will Verizon support Samsung Pay?

On the Samsung Pay site Verizon is not listed as a carrier that will be supporting Samsung Pay.  What is the official stance from Verizon on enabling this capability for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge?  Is there anything that is or will be restricting the capability to use the payment system?  The previously mentioned link mentions, "Over-the-air software update is required to download Samsung Pay. Availability may vary by service provider."  With the Stagefright Fix that other updates being pushed to S6 devices, assuming VZ will support Samsung Pay when would we expect the required software update from Verizon?

I agree that they should allow it, I am the one that created this thread...  I assume there is some sort of negotiation with Samsung/Verizon on transaction data sharing agreements that Verizon wants to make a deal to acquire at least retailer information used for transactions made through the Verizon network.  What most people don't realize is the amount of useful marketing data that can amass from something like this.

My thought was that legally, if the device can connect to Band 13 700Mhz C-Block Spectrum, the FCC has a rule in effect for Open Network which means, Verizon can not block any device, or app, using the network. So in effect, they LEGALLY must adhere and let Samsung Pay allowed on these devices capable of that spectrum. Is that not the case? Do we really need to band together to start a petition to get Verizon's head out of their butts? They have absolutely NO right to block this app, as it will not cause security concerns to their networks (which is the reason why they block the ability to root...another bull crap decision). Dear Verizon, stop screwing over your customers who paid for these devices. This is NOT how to run a business. If I wasn't already stuck in a 2 year contract, i'd be flipping you the bird and leaving.

The Band 13 rule has nothing to do with Samsung Pay, which uses near field communication.  Verizon can't book any service on the internet that uses band 13.  They could block the NFC pickup, but keep Internet wide open and be in full compliance.

Why not sell your phone and move to another carrier at that point? If you have an S5 or higher you should easily get your ETF amount and possibly some cash left over.

I've read several posts that mention Verizon is not a part of Samsung Pay.  Now that phones will no longer be subsidized, Verizon should just charge for wireless service and quit screwing up the devices with bloatwear, etc.  I hope Big Red sees fit to support Samsung Pay which is one of the reasons I bought the device.  Get with the program Verizon!

You all likely won't get an answer on here until a definitive answer is determined and announced. You could try asking CS but honestly you might do better following tech sites that discusses the subject.

Answer the post Verizon ! I put a deposit down on a Note 5. I was looking forward to the Samsung Pay feature. Apple has it.... why are you hating on Samsung?? I refuse to buy an apple phone....

Samsung pay is far superior to Apple pay and Android pay which requires NFC which is accepted at almost nowhere and Samsung pay is accepted virtually everywhere the credit card can be swiped.

They green lighted apple pay without any delay.  They have known that Samsung Pay was coming since April and they are supposedly still studying to determine if they are going to support it. If every other provider is on board, what could possibly be the hold up.  This is a great feature on a great phone, that if you don't support will create a very unhappy long time client. I will likely have to find a new provider if this is not supported.

This a question Verizon seriously needs to answer, truthfully. The fact that every other network is ready to support Samsung Pay except Verizon is ridiculous. If they don't, you'll lose a customer, Verizon.

Amen brother or sister. I just got the edge plus a few weeks ago and I'm about to jump ship because no one is giving me straightforward answers about Samsung pay on Verizon.

You know how Blackberry and Windows are hardly supported on Verizon, mainly because there is little fanbase?  Apple Pay is a big thing because Apple is a big thing.  Google Wallet is a big thing because Google and Android are big things.  Samsung is big, but it is still one company with a service only available on their devices.  If Samsung Pay takes off on the other carriers, perhaps Verizon allows the software update.  We don't even know which Samsung devices will be compatible yet, and the bank selection is fairly sparse.

Bank selection matters very little with Visa and Mastercard being on board.  I would be more concerned about the lack of Discover than banks listed...  Look at any "bank card" these days and they all have Visa/Mastercard/Amex on them...

The reason people have a right to complain is that Samsung has stated that "Verizon isn't part of Samsung Pay."  Implying that Verizon isn't planning to support/allow Samsung Pay. This could be a simple misunderstanding that Verizon is still deciding whether to participate.  Which should be cleared up pretty quickly by a response from Verizon Wireless Customer Support.

No-one should cancel accounts over this at this time as has been mentioned the capability is not available to anyone yet.  But if you are concerned I would cancel phone orders and pre-orders until they provide something official through some channel.  If the service is live and others are using it and Verizon still stays quiet then that may be the time to re-evaluate your options.  Hopefully we will get an answer soon but for those that are panicking, don't, yet.  The sky isn't falling (yet).

I bought the Galaxy s6 Edge for the purpose of Samsung Pay. I didn't know Samsung was gonna have selected banks, selected cards and even selected Carriers.  I do know that Samsung and Looppay went hand in hand.  And since I've been using Looppay (Since July 2014) on my Galaxy s5 and my s6 I figured "easy breazy"

After hearing that Verizon "may not" implement Samsung Pay; I'm becoming very hot under the collar.  Looppay has changed their application so much that I have been dying for Samsung Pay.  And now seeing some of Samsung Pay in action I can clearly say "Yes, please, now!"

But I too have been a Verizon wireless customer for years...heck I'm still even grandfathered for Unlimited Data for like 29.99 but if Verizon will not support Samsung Pay then I think I too may just leave.

Please Verizon, please support Samsung Pay...........thank you!

Same boat..long time Verizon customer...not on a contract and would purchase a new Samsung phone just to get Samsung Pay..However iwhen i saw Verizon wasnt on the Samsung Pay list i stoppd my order for a Note 5. If Verizon doesn't decide soon on accepting Samsung Pay...I will go to a carrier that does and buy my new phone and service from them. The ability to use Magnetic Secure Transmission mag strip emulation tech in Samsung Pay is a big draw for me because you can use it almost anywhere . Can you hear me now Verizon? Don't try and cripple software in order for you to make a buck. The longer you wait on this decision...the more customers you will loose because of your uncertainty and support.

Verizon must not have gotten a big enough cut from Samsung.   It is all about money not network security or any other crappie coming from Verizon.  They could care less about their customers.  They have step in the past that they don't worry about losing customers to other carriers. I was not aware of this issue on Samsung Pay when I bought my phone.  So may just return the thing and get a used Note 4.
