Are you on wifi or data? With Message+ you can actually send over wifi or over data connection. You could enable airplane mode and then turn wifi on, connect to a wifi and try sending with Message+, if that works then your data connection is not working or getting a good enough signal. If that doesn't work either I would restart the phone and see if anything works. Can you get to the web over data or wifi? Can you make a phone call? What signal strength do you have.

Im on wifi. Wifi is on, when I turn on airplane mode it won't let me send a message. It says you must turn off airplane mode to send a message. I can make phone calls and the signal strength is horrible..2 bars at the most...so I tried going outside to send message..still wouldn't send.

With airplane mode enabled, did you then turn on wifi and connect? At that point it should send the message over wifi. I tested Message+ (Verizon Messaging) last night using only wifi and it did work. If you can't send a message over data or wifi then there is an issue with the phone itself or your account perhaps. If you have enough signal to make a call then there should be no issue sending a text, the bandwidth required for a single text is nothing compared to that required for a voice call. Can you get to a website through a browser? Again if that works and texting doesn't there is something besides your connection at issue.

sounds like I'll have to contact Verizon. This phone is not doing what it's supposed to. I've only had it for a week. The SIM card that came with it was bad so I had to get a new one....have never been able to text or receive...sounds like it could be the phone. But it's brand new, I don't understand how this could happen...so frustrated

Sounds like a plan, if you have never sent/received text messages there is definitely something up with either the phone or your account settings, good luck.
