Hi, I have a Samsung Galaxy6 that all of a sudden decided it would not reconized my fingerprint after recognizing it all day, one more attempt and it is going to reset back to factory settings, I will loose all contacts and pictures.  So aggravated this phone is absolutely the worse model ever!  The battery life [removal required by the Verizon Wireless Terms of Service] also, have had it for approx 48 hours!!!

When you set up the fingerprint opt-in, did you not set up a backup pin code or password? Unfortunately, if you didn't, and it doesn't accept your fingerprint on the final attempt, it will reset the phone as part of the devices security feature.

Yes Chris, I set up a backup pin code, however it is not giving me the option to enter it.

Crazy thought here. I'm not sure if it will work on your phone. Have you turned the phone off, and taken a cotton ball and gently wiped the fingerprint sensor off? Maybe some small debris has gotten into the small surface of the sensor, and hindering it from reading your print. I'm not saying this is going to work, and I'd hate to see you lose all of your data on this hunch. I'm not really an Samsung person myself, so I am not really familiarwith their phones. I have the LG V10, and have had an issue with my fingerprint sensor, and used this method and it worked. But then again I haven't had any issues of not being able to enter my backup pin code. I'm sorry I wasn't able to help you more, but hopefully another forum member can provide a little bit more helpful information to you. Good luck.

Chris, I shut the darn thing off last night around 10:30, and called Tec Support this am, they had all my contacts listed, but not pics.  I tried to turned on the phone with one attempt left.  I did turn it on, it ask for my password, finally!!!!  I went in and changed the settings to password/pin only security.

Twelve (12) hours later.....!!!!   So, all is good now, I hate this phone going to take it to trade it in for an Apple, what I wanted originally.  Warning to all that are thinking of the S6, the battery life [removal required by the Verizon Wireless Terms of Service] .

Thanks Chris, for your suggestion, I will remember that suggestion.  Although, I was afraid to even touch the sensor for fear of loosing approx 150 contacts.Smiley Happy Have a good day!

I'm glad you finally got it worked out. Phones these days almost requires a degree in electronics to operate. Great day to you also.

Funny, my S6 gets better battery life than the iPhone I am forced to use for work.

Oh, and I've never had an issue with the fingerprint sensor.  You have to make sure it gets set up properly by moving your finger around during the initial setup.
