My z force droid currently shows 14 unread text messages. however, they have all been read. How do I clear that?

Only thing I can think of would be to either reboot your phone or force close the dialer and messages apps.

My girlfriend and I both have Moto z force droids, on different, completely separate accounts, and both started doing this recently. Reboots, clearing cache, do not resolve.

Not sure if this will help but my problem with Android message was tied to the Verizon message+ app. They were showing unread there. I think my issue was user error. ๐Ÿ˜ž but it's fixed now.

ERIDUP71, it can be a nuisance seeing unread text alert when you have already read the messages. It's important that we get this fixed. If you can for me please follow these steps: http://vz.to/2lVMQq6 (find your messaging application). Please let me know if the alert cleared.

I've followed these steps several times & the unread message notification

still shows up.  Please advise what else can be done.

Thank you.

When is this going to be fixed?? The last update is what messed up mine app. The phone is less than a couple months old.

Mine is a month old. Ugh. Not impressed so far. Especially with the

technical support.

My Moto z has done this for 3 days now and I'm about over it!  I have to totally delete my new messages as I receive them, because simply reading them will not mark them as read.  I have rebooted several times and just installed the latest update.  Please fix it tell me how to!

Mine started that after the last update. When are they going to fix this?

What was the verdict on this problem? I set Android Message as my default message app when I first got my phone, started getting unread text notifications and then started researching my problem. Saw people mention the Message+ app being the problem, opened it and realized I was getting texts there still and had a whole bunch of missed texts. Any help?

I have the Message+ app disabled & I have Android Message as my default.

I'm still getting the unread notifications. I've not received any

instruction that has worked in clearing them. Very frustrating!

Has there been any fix for this problem?  I prefer to use Android Messages instead of Message+.  Message+ is causing MAJOR  problems with my TEXT messages.  Verizon, please fix this so when a user selects Android Messages as default, that Verion Message+ does NOT HIJAC.K a copy of that message.

Same here. I have message + disabled as well.

I had unread message notifications both before and after the recent update so that's not it either.

I too began having the same issue when I updated to the latest version earlier this week.  I just went into the Google Play store and uninstalled all updates.  I then rebooted my phone b/c it was taking forever to uninstall in Google Play (guess they were shocked someone wanted to uninstall).  After reboot, I opened the Messenger app.  I could see the 4 messages that it was telling me were unread (in the new version I uninstalled) were now actually marked unread in the old version of the app.  I selected each message to mark them read.  It worked!  Now the Messenger icon only shows an unread message when it is actually unread.

I'll continue waiting to update until the developers go back to night school and learn how to fix the problem.
