motorola droid HTC eris

Both phones arriving today.... My question is Can the HTC Eris be tethered out of the box?? I was told the Motorola could not but a interenet search indicates the ERis is ready to go with verizon tethering. Can anyone confirm??

My understanding is that tethering won't be available on the Eris until sometime this spring.
