I keep getting the "unfortunately messaging has stopped" since yesterday. I've done the clearing of cache, disable, started in safe mode and it still came up. I've deleted threads, checked memory and have plenty, Updated on May 20 and it's a Droid Ultra. I've gone through all the threads here with similar issues and done all the troubleshooting they each suggested. Nothing is helping! This is driving me crazy. Help??

bjkimbrell1 lets get this issue corrected! Are you using the standard messaging app or a 3rd party? How long have you been experiencing difficulty?

I called Verizon 3 days ago. It'd Bern messed up every since. And I'm using

the app I've always used the one that came with the phone.

If you are using kit kat 4.4.2 that is the reason why it stopped, it is causing more damage then i have ever seen

i have gone thru 4 CPO phones in 3 months it is overheated my phone, killed the battery in less then 2 hours

makes apps stop working as well as i cant get the screen to turn on nor can i go into safe mode

It's an issue between Motorola's and the new KitKat update. As mentioned earlier, the update is scheduled for sometime near the end of June.

I am having the same problem on my Droid Mini, and it just started last week.   It is driving me mad, and it must be an issue between Motorola and a recent update, since it appears that every Droid user on this forum is experiencing it.  There are multiple threads on here about it, and every one has multiple messages from Verizon to clear cache, clear data, force stop, factory reset, etc, and it is not fixing the problem.    We need a fix to this and soon - we are paying for texting and should be able to send and receive.   Who knows how many messages we've all missed by now?   Verizon, please let us know what's happening and when a fix can be expected.

Been having same issue for past 2 weeks with maxx.  Done most steps and nothing has worked. Should I download another app and set as default? Any eta on fix? Very annoying.

I am so sorry to hear the issues you are having with text messaging. I understand how important text is these days as a major form of communication. Have you tried installing Verizon Messages from the Google Playstore and testing? If not, please install Verizon Messages and test. Let us know if the issue persists with Verizon Messages.

I agree with minidroid...we should NOT have to do a factory reset to try to get our messaging to work! Why should I lose everything in my phone to fix my messaging problem? These phone do not come with a memory card (yes, I knew that when I bought it and hated it then...lesson learned). This is very frustrating and the only time I have hated being a Verizon customer (enough that I have thought about switching). On top of this messaging problem, we can no longer get a signal in our house...which means our phones do not ring with all calls and we can barely make a call. If I get it to call out, I have to get outside so I can talk on my phone. The other day I had to walk out into the street so I could talk on my phone. This is UNACCEPTABLE!! We pay a LOT of money for these D*$! phones every month...not to mention the cost of the phone (I have an ultra, hubby has a maxx). His has been doing the messaging problem since Thursday, mine just started today...COME ON VERIZON GET A FIX OR REFUND OUR MONEY FOR TEXT MESSAGING THAT WE PAY FOR!!

Droid Maxx with same issue.  Mom and dad have the same phone with the same problem. Started with last update. I guess we will wait and see what terror/fix the next update brings...fingers crossed.

I Have a razr and have the same problem.  ongoing since last "update".  Have followed all the advise on these message boards except factory reset which seems A bit extreme for an issue which surfaced after a Verizon update....

Having the same problem with my Droid Maxx!  trouble sending and receiving messages! I have already been to my local Verizon store and they reset my messaging.  Appeared to work but only lasted a couple hours before the error message started again.  seems like its getting worse!  extremely frustrated!  Please fix this soon!

Let's explore options to resolve this messaging issue rbushee! Since the reset processed at the store did not fix the issue permanently, try downloading, installing and using the Verizon Messages Application. You can download from the Play Store.

I'm having this same issue with my Ultra. "Unfortunately, messaging has stopped." I've gone into 2 different Verizon stores for help, we've reinstalled messaging several times, done a soft reset twice. Today I went into Settings and Apps, and Messaging wasn't even in the list! I installed it again and now have 2 shortcuts although it only appears once in Apps.

I see many others with this same complaint and no one seems to have fixed the problem. Is something wrong with these phones??? Also, is there a way to find missing texts? I have no way of knowing what I've missed until someone gives up and sends a Facebook message or calls me.

These problems seemed to begin June 20th after I got a popup to install Hangouts (I did not install it at that time, installed it later, then uninstalled). CAN SOMEONE PLEASE ADDRESS THIS COMMON PROBLEM?

Also, Facebook notification links (View Post, etc.) don't connect and I often get Error Loading News Feed.

I too have been having problems with my Droid Ultra.  The problems seemed to have started the same time of the last upgrade.  I have missed text messages for my work and my personal life.  There is no pattern to the missed tests. I receive some messages and not others from the same people with or without Wi-Fi. I THINK all of my messages are being delivered, but there is no way to tell.  Verizon, please fix this problem soon.  I have spent over 3 hours in the Verizon store (3 different staff at 3 different times) trying to fix this problem.  It has not worked.  My phone is only 6 months old. This form of communication is a great benefit and I have now realized how much I depend on text messaging.

This is RIDICULOUS. How many of us does it take with text shutdown issues to get this fixed? My phone is integral to my work. I have clients thinking I am ignoring them. What credits are we being provided until this is fixed? What is the plan, and when is the fix projected to take place. This is unacceptable.

Also having the same problem.  Pictures will also show up days later after they were sent.  Have also tried all of the fixes listed in this thread and other threads...I should not have to download a third party app or a Verizon app to send and receive SMS.

I can't get texting to go through on my phone also.  My wife's will work but she just a new phone from the insurance folks that probably doesn't have the latest software "upgrade".  Please fix this I'm getting sick and tired of it not working.  At least let me roll back the software so I have something that works right.
