""Unfortunately Messaging Has Stopped"

I keep getting the "unfortunately messaging has stopped" since yesterday. I've done the clearing of cache, disable, started in safe mode and it still came up. I've deleted threads, checked memory and have plenty, Updated on May 20 and it's a Droid Ultra. I've gone through all the threads here with similar issues and done all the troubleshooting they each suggested. Nothing is helping! This is driving me crazy. Help??

Hi CarolB865,

Oh no! I know how important text messaging is per I use mine daily. Thanks for the hard work that you completed in an attempt to resolve the issue. The error message that you are receiving has been lifted up to Motorola and will be permanently fixed in the next software update for the Droid Ultra. There are temporary solutions provided to fix the issue:

User may delete all messages from the messaging application, or may perform a factory data reset http://vz.to/U6pr4s .

Thanks,

I am having the same issues with my Droid Maxx.  I keep getting error messages like the following.

"Unfortunately messaging has stopped"

"Unfortunately com.motorola.messaging has stopped"

"Unfortunately amazon has stopped"

The phone is almost new...only around 7 months.  I have more than enough space on the device and I have cleared the cache as well.  I've gone so far as to backup and delete photos, extra apps, etc.  I do business from the phone and I need to get it working as soon as possible.

I have been having this issue as well, it apparently been going of for little over a week now (unbeknownst to me) and as a direct result, I have missed very important work messages. I also have only had the phone for about a month, after having to replace my other MAXX due to a dead pixel. I absolutely love this phone, until this issue. Like the previous posts, I have cleared cache, etc. I would appreciate if Verizon/Motorola can resolve, otherwise I will have to search alternatives as this directly impacts my job.

Shoulders I understand the importance of having a working device, especially for work purposes! We'll do everything we can to get this taken care of ASAP! Are you using the standard messaging app or a 3rd party? Do you use the Amazon app frequently?

I am using the standard app. I have never used the amazon software. I have a lot of apps on the phone I do not need, nor want, but I can't delete. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Having the same issue with my Ultra. (See thread #27 above.) When will this be corrected? AND WHY DON'T VERIZON STAFF KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS????? They tried everything short of a hard reset (I wouldn't let them). They even said the next step would be to send it in under warranty.

Please let us know when this is fixed. I have missed many important text messages also. It is very frustrating as I too use this for work.

The temporary fixes don't work nor do Warranty Phone Exchanges.  Get the update out to us.  The tentative release date was 30 Jun 14.  Pretty bad that I am paying for this messaging service but can't use it.  I bought my phone through Verizon to use on Verizon's service.  As a Verizon customer, Verizon is responsible for providing me the service I am paying you for.  I did not buy anything from Motorola, Verizon is Motorola's customer and not me.  As a Verizon customer, Verizon needs to fix my phone and provide me the service I am paying for.

And the Verizon web app saves 90 days of synced messages? Why doesn't the staff in your stores know this???

Just Stop and Disable Messaging, it'll disappear from your Apps, go to the Play Store and download Messaging Classic.

I had the same issue with my sons Ultra.  About a month ago the Verizon store folks didn't have a clue, said to remove any App killing apps.  Still mo messaging.

Went back the other day and lo and behold they mentioned that it's been an ongoing problem with no fix.  They told us to use Hangouts.  Uh, I don't think so!

So I took it upon myself to Disable and remove the default Messaging app, go to the Play Store and download Messaging Classic.

Texting is now functioning fine.

Just Stop and Disable the Messaging app, it'll disappear from your Apps.  Then go to the Play Store and download Messaging Classic.

That was one of the first troubleshooting steps I did on my own. It worked fine for about three days and then it started happening again. I came back to this thread and saw that an update was released yesterday to fix this problem so I installed the update. I can at least send messages now, but the app keeps spontaneously shutting down and giving me the messaging has stopped notice. Resorted to disabling Native Messaging app again and downloading Verizon Messaging app. Works fine so far.

I just began using Verizon Message+ yesterday. I made it the default messaging app, but I continue to get the message that unfortunately, it has stopped working.  Please help, I would love to use this app. I have a Galaxy S5.

If you really want to anger your customers, recommend "factory resets" for problems such as these when you don't know what to do.. First, it is incredibly time consuming, backup the data, reset it, upgrade to the latest version of the operating system, and restore apps and settings and music. . Secondly, given you don't really know how to solve the problem, how do you know it won't recur?

My phone is doing this with increasing frequency--and it is now December 26---about 6 months after the problem was first reported. And it is getting more frequent.  If Verizon and Motorola care about their customer experience they will provide us with a real solution.

I have also been getting this message since the last update.  VERY annoying and inconvenient.  Not all messages are being sent and not all messages are being received by me either.  PLEASE FIX SOON!!!

MScarb we'll get this fixed ASAP! Fill us in on the details and we'll get right to work! What zip code are you located in? Are you using the pre-installed messaging app or a 3rd party?

My wife and I both have droid maxx phones and are having the same issues. Have taken phones to the verizon store and they were not able to fix the issues. When will the new update be available? I rely on messaging for my business and cannot afford to have this problem.
