I keep getting the "unfortunately messaging has stopped" since yesterday. I've done the clearing of cache, disable, started in safe mode and it still came up. I've deleted threads, checked memory and have plenty, Updated on May 20 and it's a Droid Ultra. I've gone through all the threads here with similar issues and done all the troubleshooting they each suggested. Nothing is helping! This is driving me crazy. Help??

I see customer service still isn't be straight forward and appears to be stalling for time. For someone who has been a loyal Verizon customer dating back to 2003, I must say my confidence in Verizon has diminished a great deal. Verizon's apparent negligence and procrastination to this very pressing issue for thousands ( probably millions but won't reveal the actual statistic ) of customers is very disappointing. That being said, my Samsung has now also developed the text problem " unfortunately messaging has stopped" and seems to have started after the most recent update. Done everything mentioned already. Cache, play store, delete old texts etc. and nothing. Lol
Now, its not rocket science. No need to ask us questions or provide suggestions. Simply post the link to the fix. Problem is, you don't have one nor do you want to give the actual reason as to what's going on because if you did, you would be sure to see thousands if not millions worldwide canceling their contract regardless of the additional charge to do so.
Get rrr done! )=o{>

I agree with you. I am ready to cancel and move on to a different carrier. My husband and I depend on our phones for all of our calls. I have an elderly mother that has my cell number and cannot reach me more often than she can since my phone will no longer ring in my house 90% of the time. It was like someone flipped a switch. I lose calls and get dropped calls EVERY time I talk on my phone all of a sudden. This messaging problem is just icing on the cake!!

Another fun fact: If you install Verizon Messaging but don't delete the factory Messaging app and it happens to decide to work, the Receiver will get duplicate messages. I don't want to delete the Verizon app until I know the other one is fixed, but I hate cluttering up my Contacts' inboxes.
Verizon Support - has this been escalated? Do you have a new release date? If we delete the original app, will we ever know it's been corrected?

That doesn't sound too fun to me, TresID. I have good news! An update was released this week that should take care of the messaging trouble. For step-by-step instructions on how to perform the download, please visit www.vzw.com/droidultraupdate. Since it's a brand new update, it may take a few days to reach your phone for availability. We appreciate your patience.

I installed the update on my Droid Maxx and then proceeded to send a test message to my husband. The message FINALLY sent, but immediately after, I was kicked out of the stock messaging app and AGAIN received the "unfortunately messaging has stopped" notice. I reopened the messaging app and was kicked out AGAIN. This happened four more times before I could text my husband again.

I am too having this problem with all 3 of my phone we just signed up with Verizon and reading all the comments on this issues is not a good 1st experience. My family lives by text messages and with the money we are about to pay for your service this shouldn't be going on. I have a LG G2, Iphone 5 and Droid Max. What needs to be done to fix this issue asap. We just got our phones on 7/7 and I'm not a happy person.

I just switched from AT&T to you because of my work, we have a huge corporate account with you, I would hate to see you lose that. With all my fellow employees who use Verizon we are all having difficulties using text messaging, they say sending for 10 MINUTES then say undelivered. It is a brand new phone, HTC M8 I doubt it's the phone after reading this thread. What is going on? Is their a fix coming?

Hello GnomeX26,
Thanks for the info. I don't see any issues reported in the zip code that you have provided. May I ask how much available device memory do you have? Also, can I assume that you are using the stock messaging app? If you can provide this info then we can continue to assist.
Thank youโฆ

Have you read our complaints? This affects all android phones with the latest KitKat update. (Nothing to do with location or phone model.) There is a glitch in the update that intermittently shuts down the standard Messaging app that comes on our phones and many of us have new phones. Verizon in-store staff knows NOTHING about the problem so they suggest all the standard troubleshooting techniques, none of which resolve the problem. Workaround is to install Verizon Messaging and disable the standard app. Verizon and Motorola need to resolve this together!

It's the same problem everybody else is complaining of. The unfortunately messaging has stopped, not receiving text, etc... I too have done everything possible and nothing is fixing the problem. This started about two weeks ago. Ive been with Verizon for 4 years now and really need this problem fixed asap. New software update or new phone something has to give. I'm using the standard messaging app that came on the phone and prefer not to use any other.

My wife and I have both experienced the same issues without being able to send or receive texts with our Droid Maxx phones for almost 2 months now. It is MORE THAN FRUSTRATING!!! We both depend upon our texting ability for many things, including our job communication. We have been to the Verizon Store here in Allentown more than once, with no resolve. Cleared old texts, cleared the cache, did a soft reboot, yada-yada-yada... All to no avail. Sometimes the soft reboot will get it to work temporarily (for a text or 2), and then you get the incredible awesome message... "Unfortunately Messaging Has Stopped". They told us on our LAST visit to the Verizon Store that there is a fix coming in a new System Update which was due out at the end of June. Well, here we are almost mid-July and still NO FIX. We are both sick of it. We need our texting back so we can communicate with our people and work contacts. Verizon needs to fix the bug now, or give us new f---ing phones that we can text with. No more excuses.
