my wifi is turned on all the time but my phone keeps using the data or it wont say my wifi is connected at all when all my other devices i have are using the same wifi and work just fine

Mot G3 users will tell you it is related to ipv6. Some will tell you to download and install DNSet from the Play Store. Most will say that workaround solves the issue for now.
