Calls from "asterisk"

I've been getting dozens of calls from "asterisk" that then appear in history as "unknown". I have unknown calls blocked already. I'm unable to block calls from "asterisk" and they don't seem to actually have a phone number associated with them. These calls aren't being flagged as spam and I have no way to report them as spam unlike other calls.
On a few occasions, I've answered and no one says anything on their end. Twice these calls have gone to voicemail and they've lest messages with background noise and one a male started singing in the end... not in a creepy way but like he was singing the tune to something and hung up after like 5 notes. lol
So I'm not sure if the is something bugging out or if someone is intentionally harassing me. Either way, I want these calls to stop.
This fellow seems to have the same problem: https://community.verizon.com/t5/Other-Services-perks/quot-asterisk-quot-is-the-new-telemarketing-nu...

The two places I used blue are the same phone number.
The point is, the two "unknown"/"asterisk" calls were between the spam and my mom's call and yet they do not appear in My Verizon.

If it's relevant:
Pixel 6a running Android 13
I've had 3 of these calls today so far.

I got locked out of my account (this bug https://community.verizon.com/t5/Community-Feedback/cannot-change-a-password-with-a-community-accoun...) so I can't see my private messages. Can you please PM this version 2.0 account. lol
Sidenote: I updated to Android 14 yesterday and I've not gotten any of these calls since then. It could be a coincidence.

I just received a call from "asterik" and shows the same from me as well. No number, nothing. Have we figured out what these are?

Same. I received multiple in August then they stopped. I received another today. All it shows is asterisk. How does this happen?

I received several calls from "asterisk" and they are a nuisance. There is not a way to block them. Has anyone found a resolution?

Not that I can think of. There was a more recent thread just a few weeks ago where someone said they got 30+ spam calls a day from "asterisk". Google says there is an Asterisk company out there who provides VoIP phone services and makes me think this is a new loophole spammers are using to get around call filtering software. Verizon's Call Filter app does not catch these calls, so you'd have to try some 3rd party spam blockers and filing a complaint to the FCC about the spam.
Check your apps to make sure there aren't some malicious ones hanging out which could be hooking you up to spam bots.
I'm not a Verizon employee, just another customer trying to help.
