Having a very strange problem after switching to Verizon from T-Mobile. Problem only with one phone, my wife's T-Mobile sourced Samsung Galaxy A32 5G. Other phones switched are Apples.
When bringing all phones over to Verizon, the phones were issued new SIM cards with temporary numbers so I could swap out the SIM's later, then change back to the original phone number. Performed these steps:
- Power down phone
- Swap SIM card and powered up phone (phone now has temp number 331-xxx-xxxx)
- Contacted Verizon to switch to old phone number (630-xxx-xxxx)
- Everything seemed to be working OK.
The problem remaining is when texting to only 2 numbers (so far) the receiving phone sees text coming from temp number, 331-xxx-xxxx. All others see text from 630-xxx-xxxx as normal.
Switched to 'Samsung Messages' app the problem goes away. However, my wife does not like the Samsung Messages app due to some functions lacking and different look.
De-installed and re-installed app; no change. Cleared cache in Google Messages app; no change.
Any other ideas are greatly appreciated! TIA

Hello,
I had this same issue and just found a fix. The issue is with RCS.
Go to Google Messages
Messages Settings
RCS Chats
Note at the top it will say: (Status: Connected. RCS chats are available for (temp number))
Disable "Turn on RCS chats"
Press back
RCS Chats
Enable "Turn on RCS chats"
Verify Your Number
Enter your new number
For me, I had to do the above twice. The first time after verifying it came back with my temp number again. The second time it stuck. I also actually sent a message (to a problem number) the first time I disabled it before re-enabling it. Hope this helps if you still have the issue or anyone in the future.
