Some Phones NOT receiving Text Messages With Google Messages After Switch

Some phones like my two year old Kyocera Durasport 5G smartphone are NOT receiving text messages with Google Messages or any third party app after Messages+ discontinuation. Verizon customers with certain phones are unknowingly NOT receiving text messages and this is a serious issue!

My wife and I have been long time Verizon customers.

Verizon Messages+ has been discontinued and shut down.

I now cannot receive any text messages with Google Messages app or two others on my phone.

Google Messages is the default SMS and permissions are enabled in settings.

I tried resetting connections and power cycling the phone.

I followed the troubleshooting steps provided by Kyocera.

I tried two other third party text messaging apps same thing.

My wife however with her LG phone can receive texts.

The problem seems third party text messaging apps DO NOT WORK WITH CERTAIN PHONES.

For certain it seems the Kyocera Durasport 5G smartphone OR certain revisions of it DO NOT.

I believe there are other phones out there not receiving texts!

How many people are unknowingly NOT receiving texts . . . ?

This is a VERY serious issue since most people text these days. Can you imagine a boss, manager at a company or customers sending an employee texts they never receive which could get them fired? Can you imagine someone running a business not getting customer texts? Can you imagine someone running a business having angry customers or losing money due to this? Can you imagine a friend or family member texting you saying they are in trouble and need help in an emergency and you never get their text message because of this? I often have a bad signal where I live and solely rely on text messages to communicate. What if my wife broke down, was stranded or needed help? What if somebody's teenager needed to text their parents in an emergency? This is serious!

How many people are unknowingly not receiving texts with certain phones after the switch?

I am shocked that Verizon would do this to customers.

I called tech support reference V207828 and second time reference NRB000011750524 and asked them to escalate to highest level because this is a VERY SERIOUS issue not just me but others as well. Unfortunately it feels impossible to get anything escalated but this needs to be escalated to the top ASAP because some Verizon customers are unknowingly not receiving text messages with certain phones.

As long time Verizon customers we are shocked and appalled and feel Verizon pulled the rug out from customers that loved the Messages+ app which worked perfectly telling customers to go to Google app which we believe along with other Verizon Customers that have commented is significantly inferior instead of integrating RCS into Messages+. The explanation is RCS and AI which I'm sorry we NEVER asked for and most customers NEVER asked for or needed. Verizon should read the negative Google store reviews from Verizon customers that feel the Google Messages texting app is significantly inferior to Messages+. What corporations don't understand is that customers want great basics not unnecessary tech pushed on them in my opinion.

I feel there had to be a better way to integrate this but instead I think Verizon just gave this up to Google rather than working to integrate this into a newer version of Messages+ in my opinion.

In addition it now seems Verizon Customer text messages are now being stored with Google?

If so then we as customers never gave Verizon permission to store our data with a third party.

In my opinion Verizon had no business taking away something "they" are supposed to provide, support and store on Verizon servers NOT Google servers. There are negative reviews on the Google app store and Verizon customers complaining about issues. There also seems to be complaints about the Google app being inferior to Messages+. I personally don't buy the justifications and believe some executive thought he could save the company a few bucks. I believe Verizon should have worked with Google to integrate RCS into a newer version of Messages+ and use Verizon servers while being more involved with this switch to ensure a smooth transition for customers.

Is it really saving money to have so many people that will soon be switching carriers?

Is it really worth devaluing the Verizon brand causing customers all this trouble in my opinion?

I used to think of Verizon as a serious business related carrier but I feel like I'm being pranked.

I would like a straight answer from the top at Verizon NOT some generic response . . .

Verizon I run a business, you are forcing this switch now my phone doesn't receive texts?

I think Verizon made a bad deal handing this over to Google to save a few bucks rather than working with Google to integrate RCS into a newer version of Messages+ creating a total disaster in my opinion!

Long time loyal Verizon Customer (may be forced to switch)
