my numbers app

Hello,

I was wondering since the My numbers app will be discontinued if there is a way that I can have that number transferred to my existing phone.  it is a Samsung s22 ultra and I know the phone is capable of having 2 numbers but would like my  phone number from My numbers app for the second phone number since I use it for work.

Thanks,

I am confident we will be able to find a good solution to this upcoming concern, qimknnz2. The first section on this page https://www.verizon.com/support/my-numbers-faqs/ provides a number to a special team who can talk through the available options for keeping your My Numbers number. Is this information helpful?

I bet. I used to work in the Port Dept, so I'd call them and see if they can help, or even possibly reach out to Google Fi with you. *Linda

I found this information, hope it helps.

  • To port the My Numbers MDN to Verizon or any other carrier, customers must have their full Verizon account number (including the sub-level without a hyphen) and Account PIN.

I am one of those people. Just ran across this thread online today and wished I learned all this information early enough. I called Verizon 3 different times this month trying to port my number and gave up because all the reps I talked to, 1) didn't even know what the MyNumbers App was,  2) Which of course meant they didn't know how to go about porting the number,  3) Couldn't find any info about MyNumbers app connected to my phone (even though I got constant texts from Verizon warning me that it would be discontinued and needed to port if I wanted to keep my number!) and 4) in the end told me that I had to have another phone and basically add a line to port my number to it.

I found the SmartLine app with GoDaddy and wanted to port my number to it but I got nowhere with Verizon when I called them about it.  So finally I decided to let it discontinue and chose a new number with GoDaddy.  I am extremely disappointed with Verizon about this. It was meant to be a business number but hadn't used it for business yet so fortunately I won't be damaged by it too much but I 'm sure other MyNumbers app users who were unable to port it will be.  Regardless, I did stress over it and wasted many hours on the phone only to get nowhere with the Verizon reps.  I didn't even know to request a tier 2 tech.  Thankful for everyone that mentioned it on this forum.  Maybe it will help me in the future for other issues I may have if I stay with them.

Yeah, in order to port a number, you have to start with the company you are porting to. They'll do the request for you, you'll just need your account number, billing ZIP Code, and a number transfer PIN you can get by dialing #PORT from your phone.

Okay, so after hours wasted on the phone with Verizon, they were completely useless. I happen to have a friend who's job is specifically to port numbers, and they were able to help. Basically you want to use the account number on your bill, INCLUDING THE 00001 AT THE END, but not the dash. So if it's 1234567-00001, you use 123456700001. When Verizon reps give you the account number, they don't tell you to use the 00001, but it won't work if you don't.

Secondly, for the pin, do not use a number transfer pin. It's wrong. Use the pin that you have to use when you call Verizon to verify your identity. Mine is 4 digits.

Thirdly, for some reason that makes no sense, Verizon has this as a "wireline" number, aka a landline. Basically what that means for you is it takes 5 business days to port to wireless. So with the service ending at the end of the month, you should port asap. Other than that, as long as the address is right it should work.

I was sure I'd have to give up my number,  which would  be very bad as I use it for business, but this worked. And if I worked with Verizon I never would've figured it out. Because of that, they lost my business. I ported the number to Tello on a dual sim and funny enough, the signal is always better than Verizon. I'm now looking at switching my main number to another carrier as well, it's just unfathomable how bad the level of support was, and now that I know a way cheaper MVNO actually gets better service in my area, I see no reason to stay.

Hi WhatHappenedToService,

I posted yesterday. I finally got service on a regular Verizon line. You make three of us on here that tracked down the correct info. I'm very disappointed with Verizon and how they didn't train any of the reps/techs on how this would work. I initially bought a new phone from Visible with the intent to try their service, but gave up when they couldn't port it. I also use the MyNumbers number for my real estate business, and losing it would have been costly in both time and money.  Now that I've got the number, I may eventually move it to a pre-paid service. And if I like it, move all of my lines!

I spent some time yesterday on a three-way call with Verizon and Google Fi. I was on with the tear 2 port team at Verizon and the tear 2 support team at Fi. It was an interesting way to spend my afternoon. They told me that since the My Numbers app is technically a landline, it could take up to six days to transfer. So hopefully this will be behind me by then, but probably not. On a side note, Google Fi's service is not any better than Verizon's.

We do want you to have accurate information. If you're having issues with your port out, we can help! Our Port Team and customer service can get you taken care of! The number Transfer PIN is different from the PIN and will not work for Port Outs. Please, let us know if you need any further help!
