What happens if a prepaid phone is bought while on the postpaid plan?

What do you mean?  Buying a prepaid phone doesn't affect a contract line.  I believe you must have a prepaid phone on prepay service for 6 months before bringing it to postpay.

Well that depends if it's a 3G or 4G phone.  If it's a 3G phone, then 6 months of waiting is needed, but if it's a 4G phone, then no waiting is needed.
