Adding prepaid to family plan

I want to add my BF to my plan (I don't have a family plan, but will get one when I add him). He has a pre-paid phone and wants to keep his number and phone. Is this possible? Are there any requirements to be able to do this? He's had the plan for a while, but just got a new phone.

Also, outside the realm of this topic but, do you have to have a data plan for each phone in your family plan or does the one data plan share for each phone (like minutes).

I believe a phone on a prepaid plan as to be on a plan for 6 months before it can be converted to a postpaid plan.

budone is right you can use a prepaid on a family plan as long as you have had the prepaid for at least six months and you can keep the same number. As for the data plan each phone has its own data plan it does not share a plan like the minutes do.
