Can I Change from 3G to 4G plan?

I'm planning on upgrading to an iPhone 6 from a 4, so I have to change my prepaid plan from 3G to 4G. Is it possible to do so without changing my phone number?

Yes.  All you are doing is activating a phone.  The plan does not have to change.
