Can a Blackberry be used as a prepay yet?

I was talking to a Verizon person about 2 months ago when I was buying a contract phone and turning it into a prepay and the Verizon person said that in September that Blackberry would be on the prepay list to use as a prepay but the thing is I can't remember if he said this September or next? Can someone please help me figure this out? Thank you!:smileyhappy:

I was wondering about this; I have a BlackBerry Storm 2 9550 that's been sitting in my drawer.  I'm currently under contract to AT&T so I can't sign another contract yet and was thinking about prepaid to see if I like Verizon's service.

I was checking the prepaid options on the site, and I see the option for BlackBerry, but there doesn't seem to be an option to bring my own device.  Is this possible yet and I''m just missing something, or is it not available yet?

Thanks for the help. :smileyhappy:

You could call them and find out  if your model would work then you would know for sure.  We had verizon prepaid for 10yrs. and had absolutely no problem with it and traveled a lot and used it all over and always got service where we were.  Mary

The Blackberry you have, was that on the ATT contract? If it was it would not be capable with Verizon service.

ATT phones use a different technology (GSM vs CDMA) and therefore are not compatible on each others' networks.

The chiefGSM carriers in the United States are Cingular Wireless, recently merged with AT&T Wireless, and T-Mobile USA. Major

CDMA   In cellular service there are two main competing network technologies: Global System for Mobile Communications (carriers are Sprint PCS, Verizon and Virgin Mobile.

GSM) and Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA). Cellular carriers including Sprint PSC, Cingular Wireless, Verizon and T-Mobile use one or the other. Understanding the difference between GSM and CDMA will allow you to choose a carrier that uses the preferable network technology for your needs.
