Can't make a call??

I currently have the 50$ prepaid plan. I "supposedly" have unlimited talk, text and web but when I try making a call I get this automatic message saying something like: "You cannot complete this call because you don't have sufficient funds" This isn't the first time I get this message and I was wondering do I have to add funds (pay/add extra minutes) just to make a call when I have "unlimited" minutes already?
