Stolen Prepaid Account

Someone keeps stealing my mothers prepaid phone account.   How is this possible?   How can this be cleared up and prevented in the future?   It has happened twice now - even with a pin and security question supposedly protecting the account.

Diffindently change the phone number and its common knowledge that the last four digits of the phone number is the 4 digit code to use for your account so change the code right away , pick  a code no one will guess and don't tell a sole what the number is.  Hope this works for you. I would us the $15.00 card for now until it know its not being used again by someone else. Did you buy the phone new or through an online sorce or a friend?

Go online and check to see what calls have been made or text's. Does your mother text?  Is there someone else in the house that could use the phone if its left sitting out?  What plan does your mother have, Basic, $1.99 or .99 cent plan. just a few calls on the $1.99 plan can use up the money fast.  Do check out the usage on her account online and that should tell if its phone calls or text messages being used.

Thanks for the info, but I didn't explain clearly what is happening.   Someone is taking the minutes from my mothers account and transferring them to another phone and account.   This disconnects my mothers phone.   Verizon is saying my mom gave someone her access code, but my mom doesn't even know what it is, since I think this person has also changed the access information.   Verizon doesn't seem to be able to prevent this from happening.   Should she get another phone, another phone number, etc.   I don't know how they are able to do this, so I don't know how to solve this issue.

I had my prepaid account hijacked a month ago.  they added minutes to the phone using the credit card "I" had on file and then reported the phone stolen the next day.  They changed my password and security code.  I was able to access my account online and recover my phone and account.  it certianly was scary that someone could do this.  I had to cancel my credit card since i had it on file.  The funny thing was when i access the account on line they had changed the city that the phone was suppose to be located in and put in a new credit card number.
