Verizon ssys my bill was paid, but my card hasn’t had money taken out yet? Auto pay was on the 15th

Was it really Verizon? Or was it that  text message that tells you your bill is paid and they have a gift for you if you click on the link?  (Don’t, it’s a phishing attempt!)
