What must one do to activate an unlocked iPhone 5 with a prepaid plan?

I am planning on buying an unlocked iPhone 5 and activating it with a prepaid plan, but I don't know how and if that would work. Does anyone know?

It needs to be a Verizon Wireless version of the iPhone 5.
