Just bought a Galaxy j7 to use on your network from a Verizon store because your towers have better coverage where I live in Gatlinburg TN. However, for the last 2 days, your service has been nearly dial up speed. Please tell me this is not a common occurrence. I bought the phone to use as a hotspot, and with speeds this slow it is effectively useless to me. Going to return it tomorrow. I had ATT and with only 2 bars of LTE still had lightning fast connection and load speeds. Going to return to their service.

The gounlimited plan allows for throttling at any time for any reason. So, if that was the selected plan, slow data speed would not be all that unusual.
With a fixed data plan, throttling and deprioritization are less common. It is known that Verizon Wireless is repurposing some of its antennas for the new 5G network, so, that could be factoring into this. More rural areas with fewer towers and more varied topography can be a bit more challenging.
Ultimately, Verizon Wireless customer service would need to check for network impairments. If other Verizon Wireless customers in the area are having similar problems, then, that would be indicative of a wide spread issue.
