Can I buy a Droid Maxx 2 and activate it on Prepaid?
I have a Moto X now and just want to upgrade. If I can't
activate a Maxx 2, what do you suggest for something
about the same size in Motorola.?

If you purchase it at full retail price, then yes, you can use the phone on prepaid.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Thank you,
I tried to buy one at the local Verizon store, they refused to sell
it to me for the retail price. Even Motorola will sell it for 384.00
but the local store says it will not work on prepaid even if I buy
it from Motorola. If I go to the Verizon site as a new customer it
shows I can buy it for 384, but if go put my account number in
it don't show up.

The phone should use the same size SIM card as the Moto X. You should be able to take the SIM card from the old phone and put it in the new phone. You might have to call the prepaid customer service number from another phone if you have issues.

Thank you,
I think I will call the Verizon prepaid number and see
if I can order it from them instead of trying to do it
online.
I don't want to spend that kind of money and find out it
won't work and have to return it.
I've been using the prepaid for over a year and haven't had
any problems with service. I don't see any reason to change
to a regular plan and get less data for more money.
A couple of months out of the year I use the phone for a hotspot
when we are in the RV, the rest of the time I usually don't use a
gig of data.

I went to the local Verizon "company" store this morning, they said as long
as I had my other phone for at least a year I could upgrade on prepaid,
if I paid retail price for the Maxx 2. I said OK, he went to the back and
got one, took all of about 5 min. to transfer all my settings and account info.
and I walked out the door with a new Maxx 2.
He didn't even need to switch the sim card, he did it all with his tablet.
