I currently use a very basic LG Accolade phone on a daily access pay as you go Prepaid plan ($0.25 per minute for voice / $0.20 per text message). The plan is perfect for me, but I'd like to switch to a smartphone so that I could access the Internet via WiFi when I am at home or at work. In other words, I would only use the Verizon network for voice and text messages.
Does anyone know if I could purchase a used Verizon-compatible smartphone, and then register to use it with my daily access pay as you go plan?
Thanks!
/Don

No. You would have to switch to the appropriate prepaid smartphone plan.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Verizon has pre-paid smartphone plan. I believe you have to chose one of their phones.
Just to let you know in 3 days they are changing up the prepaid smartphone plan. They'll have 2 plans
unlimited talk/text and 500 MB data $60 per month
unlimited talk/text and 2 GB data $70 per month
Since they are changing the plans they may offer more phones than 3 currently listed. Then again they may not.

So it sounds like Verizon won't allow me to sign up a phone that happens to be a smartphone on a daily use plan. That's too bad. Guess I will start looking at other vendors.

If you want to use a smartphone you need to sign up for their smartphone plan. You're not going to find many vendors that will let you have a daily plan with a smartphone, but good luck.
