Can i switch from postpaid to prepaid?

My ex-boyfriend has me on his contract verizon account.  His phone is the primary phone on that account.  Am I locked into that account or am I able to switch to prepaid without any charges?

You could ask him to transfer your line to your responsibility. This would allow you to keep the number and phone. Transfer your service FAQs | Verizon Wireless
