Change 3G device but keep gandfather plan

Hello,

Your info detailing the experience with your $5  Grandfather plan is exactly like mine.  The exception being that if I try to change my 3G device to a 4G one (that is a verizon flip phone; etalk no annual contract model) the process asks me which plan to change to, i.e. will not let me switch my current 3g device otherwise.  So my question:  I used the online change device option.  Did you use a different method?

Hi there, Chienvisage57. As you know, we are in the process of updating our wireless plans to ensure our customers continue to get the best value and experience.  Our records indicate that you are on a plan that will change during this update.

To focus on building the most reliable 4G and most powerful 5G network, Verizon will be retiring our 3G network and your current 3G plan will not be supported.

Beginning August 2021, we will automatically move you to a new 4G phone plan.  Your current phone will continue to work on your new plan.

The new plan will cost $5 per month, plus taxes and fees, and includes 20 minutes of talk.

Additional talk minutes will be charged at a rate of 20 cents per minute, and any text message will be charged at a rate of 10 cents per text.

So the plan would eventually need to be change for every customer or your device will no longer work.
