Yesterday I switched my family from post-paid Verizon to pre-paid Verizon plans, during which I explicitly asked the Verizon agent (phone) if the network extender that Verizon provides us would work on the pre-paid plan. The agent said yes, so I made the switch. Last night I noticed that the network extender said "Device not registered call Verizon support". Which I did only to be told that the network extender is not supported under the pre-paid plan. Needless to say I am annoyed. My family and guests can't make or receive calls without an extender because Verizon has not put up a cellular node on towers near our house (though they have them north & south of us, just not within line of sight).
I do not understand why network extenders aren't supported with pre-paid plans. It makes no technical sense (my phone is the same, the extender is the same, and the internet is the same). It seems to be a policy decision, but one that fails to support me as a long-time customer (>20yr). I'm annoyed that the agent gave me incorrect information that lead me to think that switching plans would work for my family, and Verizon technical support has not been helpful in helping solve this. Hence, I feel mislead and unsupported. Can anyone suggest a solution other than changing plans or carriers?
