No service when i traveling out U.S

How could i use my verizon to make calls when i traveling out U.S?  When i travel to China my phone display NO  SERVICE . I am a prepay custom .Can't order Travel plan .

You have to buy a local prepaid SIM card where ever you travel.

tell your friends to send you email or message via Facebook or something. 

YOu cant use your number with a Chinese SIM card.
