Prepaid phone for post paid account

I have a phone that is broke so I was wondering if I could pick up a prepaid phone at Walmart and have it activated on my post paid account. I would not be able to call it in to activate. I would have to take it to the Verizon corperate store. Would this work?

No.  Phones that are retail packaged for prepaid service must be used on prepaid for 6 months before they can be activated on post-paid service.

Read the terms and conditions on the packaging for the phone you purchase.  If you choose to circumvent them, that's your call.

See if someone has an old phone laying around they are not using that will work on verizon.  I keep a couple old flip phones here in case one of our phones break and we need one in a pinch.  You can also buy a used one on e-bay or craig's list, just make sure the ESN is clear and it's a verizon phone.  Also if your phone broke and it's not in warranty you might qualify to buy a certified like new one from verizon so look into that.    Mary

I am want to add a line with my daughters prepay phone. Add it to my account. If you are able to let me know. I have asked the question but I keep getting either they do not know or they will have to check into it. I have even sent the question to verizon with no response. If I have to get het a new phone we will. She wants to keep this one.

We haven't had prepaid in a while but unless it's changed what you would do is go buy a prepaid phone and that would be your daughters and you add minutes to it every monthy or what ever.  We had 3 prepaid phones at one time all were separate with 3 separate numbers and we had to add minutes to each one every few months but they were not considered one account.    If you have a contract account with regular service you can add lines for like $9.99 each on top of the main line.  Mary
