I moved to a remote area with no service 8 years ago. I finally switched my plan to prepaid so I could save $25 a month for a service I rarely use. I needed to use my phone recently when out in the wilderness and I had a strong roaming signal. I could not make the call because the system said I had no money in my account. [Removal required by the Verizon Wireless Terms of Service] ! Now I find out that the $45 a month I am paying doesn't include roaming, and I need to put extra money in the account to pay 20 cents a minute for roaming calls. When I signed up for prepaid, I told them I would occasionally use roaming, and no one told me about this. Clearly I need to leave verizon entirely. I have spent 7 hours on the phone with them in the past month and it has been one major screw up after another, with most calls ending in me getting cut off in the process of being handed off to another department. Does anyone have any suggestions of another company to switch to?

Since you live in a remote area, our options are likely to be limited. What other companies work in your area. It is not inconceivable Verizon is your only choice.

I live in south central Kentucky, an area covered by a local carrier Blugerass Cellular, they are in partnership with Verizon for the LTE 4G in rural america iniciative, I purchased a prepaid phone from vz ,data and text work100% but I can't call out or receive calls. I called cust service and they tell me that calling is not available in roaming areas on prepaid. this is very rediculous I have at&t prepaid and all of it works in roaming or not, also the main purpose for a cellphone is the calling remember? vz needs to advertise this better because is not anywhere on their website or fine print. Withholding information is a form of false advertisement. I am very dissapointed and fell deceived, I feel like class action.

I am having the same problem with making calls on roaming, I have spent hours and hours on the phone with verizon reps and they basically know nothing and the last time I talked to them they told me I had to pay by the minute to make roaming calls. It actually says on my prepaid plan that domestic roaming was included and 3 (2 over the phone and 1 at my local verizon store) different reps told me it was included at no extra charge. There are many other people upset by this false advertisement as well. I will be looking elsewhere for phone service.
