Hi, this thread is in the Prepaid forum, so I'm speculating you're a prepaid customer. We prepaid customers have lower priority on the towers because we aren't paying as much for our service. So the tradeoff is, you don't get 5G unless you're in just the right place(s) for it, i.e, there are several towers around to handle the traffic well and they have 5G. In my experience, my phone is usually connected to a tower(s) which is not the closest one - unless it's a slow traffic night on the network and I get lucky. 5G radio waves do not travel anywhere as far as LTE waves do, so if the tower your phone is hooked up to is a few miles away, the 5G signal may not even be making it out that far.
I have also noticed that even in areas with good 5G service, my phone will not go into 5G mode unless I open up an app needing data and then wait a few seconds. When I stop using data, the phone goes back into 4G.
You didn't list your ZIP code, so maybe 5G isn't available in your area?
I'm not a Verizon employee, just another customer trying to help.

Hello, Gaturz83. Having only the best in service is a must. Help is here. There are many factors as to why you might only see 4G LTE on the phone. To start, what is your zip code?
