Voice Mail

Two issues that I find frustrating as regards voice mail is that there is no identification of the identity of the caller (i.e.; phone number) when I pull up my voice mail menu nor is there any indication of the time that this message was left. Nor do receive any information re: the time the voice mail was left when I listen to my voice mail.  I have a Samsung U430...but should this really matter. It would be nice to have some indication of who is leaving me a voice mail and at what time they left it. I only know who left the message upon listening to the voice mail. Why is it that only missed calls give you information re: the phone # and time of missed call. Surly Verizon could program this into the menu at the current state of technology.  Who at verizon can do something about this issue.

On most Verizon phones, you can press "5" during playback and it will give you the time, date, and phone number of the call(er) leaving the Voicemail.  (If you have or had Alltel service, it may not work).  You can also set up your voicemail to give you the timestamp/caller info before the message plays (Personal Options>>Administrative Options>>Date/Time playback toggle on or off.

You Mail is an alternate service (free) that will send you a text message and/or email that has caller ID and other info....check it out.

Thanks for your reply,

Pressing "5" during playback did work. Thanks. But, I don't seem to be able to find... "Personal Options>>Administrative Options>>Date/Time playback toggle on or off" any where on my menu. I was able to access some of this through my voice mail but only as far as "Administrative options".  I never was able to get to an option for "Date/Time playback toggle on or off"??? Unless it is identified as something else.

OK--menu options have changed !!!   :smileyvery-happy:

You access this through your voicemail, dial the *86 and enter your password, then the steps are:

4 - Personal Options

2 - Administrative Options

4 - Message review options

2 - Envelope information

1 - Turn envelope information ON

These directions no longer seem to work.  In the personal options menu, I don't get an administrative options choice.  I'd prefer not to listen to the envelope information for every message; I'd rather just press 5 when I need it.

Have you tried going into Menu, Recent Calls? It give a list of missed, or dial, or answered calls I don't know is the time or date shows up there but I do believe the phone numbers do. I delete mine weekly so I can't remember if the times are there. lol.
