change phone/change to new number

hi,

Have another friend helping, he is in his 80's and hard of hearing. He gives me the phones and tells me the problems. He had a smart phone but switched to a flip phone. Now he is finding he should have kept going with the Blu Smart phone. His number is constantly getting bombarded with spam numbers (I have never seen a phone ring so much). 

Now he wanted to switch the phone to the Blu smart phone which was actually a Verizon smartphone (it looks like), and also change to a new number.

How do I go about doing both with as little trouble as possible. I am pretty sure I have all his information. Yes, I know it is better if he was right here, but I will try with all the information he has given to me.  If I need more, I will have to go back to him. Thanks, Bruce
