cloned dialer?

My verizon account shows an outgoing call to 1153then my number. I found out that this means a call to vm from another phone.  I was traveling during the time of the call.  I did not access my vm.  what could be the explanation?  It was made directly after I added minutes with a prepaid pin number.  And does anyone know if calls go to vm when there is no time on the phone to accept calls from non vz callers?

If you do not have time on your phone the caller would hear a message and would not be routed to your voice mail.
