Hi,
Today I reported the issue to supervisor for Verizon Wireless concerning this security issue for user that setup a One Verizon ID which allows the user to gain access to both there mobile and home (Fios) account with a single login. The issue is One Verizon ID user accounts are forced to use non-secure SMS authentication since it is the only metord offered at this time for offing into your account via www.verizon.comthis is a major issue in light of warnings by the US Federal Government released this week. See the following for a part of the warning:
The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) released a memo on Wednesday responding to the threat, instructing people to not utilize SMS as a second factor authentication method for online accounts.
See the entire press release below.
I requested that the supervisor escalate the issue. For now I have disabled two factor authentication while logging into my Verizon. Com account.
I hope this issue iaddressed quickly
Ray
