Verizon fraud

Verizon has literally almost made it impossible to file a fraud claim even with a full police report. I have been a police officer, my entire adult life I was treated like an absolute criminal six weeks later I’m still dealing with this. Their online fraud report refuses every document they request, including photo IDs and please report saying it’s not the right format no matter what you do. Month after month I keep getting bills for an account that’s never been activated, that was opened and documented as a possible fraud the day it was opened by Verizon themselves long before I got involved. I was told by the fraud department. I was a liar, but the call center did not tell me it was reported as possible fraud immediately 10 minutes of a heated discussion later. She told me that she’d now does see that on her screen. Literally the worst people on the planet. I’ve never had Verizon in my life and I’m very thankful. Absolutely nobody will help me.

We're terribly sorry for the issues you have encountered. Unforunately fraud claims are outside our scope. The good news is that you can fill out a fraud claim online and our fraud department can reach out to you. Please select the following link to get started and select "File a fraud claim online:": https://www.verizon.com/about/account-security/overview

This person is saying that despite properly supplying the fraud department all the information required, they are still refusing his claim and giving him the runaround – so your suggestion to fill out fraud claim is laughably Orwellian. I too am having this issue trying to simply report that an account opened in my name was fraudulent. How can a company accept a new account including the order of merchandise without a credit report and/or credit card to verify the account? That seems criminal to me.

I have a similar case, but instead of a new account, someone used my husband’s phone account to order a new phone and home network equipment. The phone was shipped to the other side of the country and because it is not returned, they have billed us over a $1,000 for it. I received a message that they just determined we didn’t have a case and closed the fraud claim. When I called to find out what is going on they said a fraud claim was open already. I informed them that I was notified that it was closed…..’oh yeah, I see that now’.  Supposedly they reopened claim and they are still working on it.  How did they let someone use our account to buy phones and equipment, ship it across the country and say we are liable. Why are we liable for either Verizon’s error or fraud by someone else? Meanwhile, they keep tacking on late charges. I have been a Verizon customer for over 20 years. I have never been treated this badly before.
