Unable to assign role to specific phone number/line

So I am unable to assign a role to one of my kids phone numbers. Both on the app and the website, when I tell it to assign the role of child, it says "changes have been saved" but it remains unassigned and therefore I am unable to control the phone. Below is a screen shot of the website right after I had changed the role to "child" and you can see it says "changes made successfully" but the little box says "not assigned". Please help. #google pixel 6a

Jekyll7Hyde, we want to be sure you have the roles set up right away. Just to confirm, are you trying to use the Smart Family feature? Are you logged in as the account owner or an authorized manager in the My Verizon website or app?

I'm having the same problem, were you able to get this fixed? I keep updating as a child and it reverts back to Not Assigned.
