Not necessarily. First of all, most names associated with cell phone numbers are not available to caller ID. In most cases, you simply get the number which is making the call. In a few cases from Verizon phones, the owner of an account can add the username for the lines on their own account which would then show up in the caller ID of the phone being called.
You could also sign up for an app called Hiya which finds the name associated with many lines thru public records or from reports from other Hiya users.
If your child has added the names to the contacts on their device, the name would show up in the phone's call log.
Of course, this would all be rendered moot if your kids suspect you are spying on them and they started using a service such as skype to get around your snooping.
