I use Family Base to set a data limit on my daughter's phone. If she goes over her limit - she can no longer send or receive texts. We are supposed to have unlimited texting - why does this happen when the data limit is reached? I want her to continue to have the ability to text me

The MMS messages require data to transferred through the Verizon Wireless network. The SMS messages should work without data.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

We want to help make sure the service is set up exactly as you wish, VANVOOLE. As Ann154 mentioned, MMS does require the data service but SMS should work as intended. Have you noticed if this is the case with your daughter’s device? What messaging application does your daughter use? Make and model of phone?

IF she is using an iPhone and you are using an iPhone you are using iMessages which DOES NOT use texts. It uses data.
Green = SMS/MMS(texting)
Blue = iMessages(data)
You will have to turn off iMessages in order to not use data and it will always send SMS/MMS, but your MMS which even if the data doesn't count towards the limit it is shut off because data is shut off.
