2.2 Froyo Update

Now that customers with the Samsung Epic are starting to receive their Froyo 2.2 upgrades - as rumored from several weeks ago; don't you think it's plausible to expect updates for the Samsung Fascinate to begin tomorrow?

...........as to the individual who has EB01 Froyo installed on their Fascinate, can you share info as to how you were able to get the new operating system installed on your phone?

Can't discuss it here but there are walkthroughs at androidcentral.com and xda-developers.com under the fascinate sections.  There is nothing definitive that EB01 will be the officialy update pushed from Verizon whenever they decide to.

There will be no Froyo or Gingerbread for the Fascinate. VZW said no more OS updates for the Fascinate and then told me buy a new 4g phone with all the goodies

And as we have all seen before with VZW, I just chatted with someone on Verizons website, and he told me that "Yes, the make and model of the Samsung Fascinate is on the schedule to get Froyo."

So who do you believe? As always, it is up to us to interpret.

Well I did find that most Verizon employees don't know much about fixing the phones or up coming phones or updates

So you are saying that when you started your new job...on the first day..or lets say for the first week....you knew everything? I highly doubt it lil man... We are trained and given info at VZW's discretion, not that we choose not to give any info out or that we don't know..we simply cant because we don't  know every little single detail about every single phone. I can tell you this, I have my EB01 on my fascinate, yes i had a root canal on my phone. yes I work for VZW, no i dont care about the warranty, cuz I can simply change it back to stock just as easily as i perfromed the root canal.

You wanna know phones cmoing out? Fine 4G 1st is the HTC Thunderbolt (no surprise there) end of march will see the Bionic, June more than likely the LG Revolution then we will see the unnamed Samsung model. And yes there will also be an iphone 5 that will debut in June/July yes it will be a cdma/gsm hybrid phone more than likely a 4G phone as well. Also dont forget about the onslaught of the Xpeira phones, as well as all the new Touchscreen Blackberrys to be released sometime 3rd Quarter

To wrap this lil rant up, cut VZW employees and tech guys some slack they/we are doing the best we can with what we are given.

It's this attitude that you are displaying that seems to be very prevalent at VZW. VZW is very slow and unresponsive when it comes to updates. My next phone will not be with Verizon. With all the companies out there vying for business you would think VZW would be more humble and try to keep its customers satisfied.

And to soulchaser:

It's too bad that some dude at XDA can sit in their basements on their day's off and outprogram every single **bleep** at VZW.

XDA and Android central have had froyo for weeks.

Go there and get an odin package for your phone. Quick and easy. I reccomend Adrynalyne Superclean 2.6 (Froyo)

Let's see how fast this gets deleted.

I just bought a Xoom. Same thing! Have to wait for updates! I am returning the XOOM today before the 14 day period is up. I am not waiting 6 months as I have with Fascinate for updates and still not receive them. Verizon IMO is screwing themselves. I would rather have a glitch in an upgrade than what I have now which is a bunch of empty promisses from Verizon.

Yes Honeycomb is the topdog for that device.

Not to mention it's stock Honeycomb and pretty much google's baby as the first honeycomb tablet so the update rate will be much better than anything offered by Samsung.

I have sent repeated e-mails to Samsung and they consistently state: "we are working to make the Android 2.2/Froyo upgrade available to all U.S. Galaxy S owners as soon as possible".... I will continue to believe this upgrade is right around the corner....all the tech sites I visit suggest the upgrade is close at hand......

See that's the problem, VZW continue to use loose terms like, "its just around the corner" it was just around the corner last fall. As far as I am concern their statements hold no weight.

Hey Verizon, When are we going to get what was PROMISED? Please don't become the carrier of greed and incompetence! we still have a glimmer of faith in you although fading.

Just installed my EB01 Froyo and WOW! No bugs so far and performance is through the roof. The ability to change the system font is awesome, the phone boots and is ready to use twice as fast, GPS is spot on and the camera had a firmware update that installs when you first open the camera which eliminated all the lag. System menus are much nicer looking and quicker. The double caps while typing is gone and email seems to push to the phone instantly. Bing is still the default search but is easily changed in the settings to google or now yahoo also. They also included a password or pin lock screen along with the pattern lock. The browser is awesome and flash is working out to be great, there was a update through the market already for flash today. All the blotwear is still there but hey, it's froyo! You will all be very pleased with it.
