I've read about this on another board as well. Mine seems pretty good however.
Their solution is to try this - charge the battery with the phone powered on. Once it is fully charged and it pops up battery full, unplug it and power down. then plug it back in until the battery is fully charged again. They seem to think the meter is not reading the battery fully and this procedure is referred to as a "bump charge". Dunno if it will work but.....hey...cant hurt right?

I know the procedure you are referring to however you have left out one step. You need to clear the Battery Stats, but it can't be done without some other procedures.

After first installing FRYO my battery life was terrible. Today I noticed that it has improved considerably. Like some one ellse on here mentioned about giving it time I would agree with him.

Mine is improving as well. I think that part of the problem is when I upgraded to 2.2 all the settings reset to the original settings - ie. sync schedules. I changed alot of that to every hour rather than push (except for work email).
I have also done the following (which I had done on 2.1):
1. Turn off the GPS and Bluetooth
2. Switched the display to Automatic rather than 100% that it had when I upgraded to 2.2. Go to Display Setting > Brightness > set it to the Automatic Brightness box/option
3. I use Wi-Fi at home whenever possible rather than 3G - it is faster and uses less battery power.
4. Reset all of my accounts sync schedules. I don't need everything pushing to my phone 24-7.
5. Bumped the battery

Have you checked under Settings-About-Battery Use to see if anything is there?

About once every couple of weeks, I will power off the phone, pull the battery for about a minute or so, put it back in, and then charge is overnight while it is off. I heard this from someone..
I also know my battery is not lasting as long also since Froyo, but that is because I am using it more now than I did before also. I am constantly looking through the settings, trying to find this and that, see what new features and options are there, etc. If I do not play with it all day long, mine last about 1.5 days, otherwise it lasts only about a day. After a full charge last night, I am currently at 37%, with light usage, but I am still looking around on the device.

Morning all, about the battery life.... Still not good. I will probelry god to Verixon store this weekend and see that happens.
I did try acouple of other suggetions posted on other Adriod forums as to help improve the battery life.
1. Turn off the GPS and Bluetooth this way its not constantly looking for single (these are features not needed on a day by day basis)
2. Go to Display Setting > Brightness > set it to 10% and dont use the Automatic Brightness box/option
3. When ever you can use Wi-Fi, the use it. At home I did notice that the battery life last longer and that was due to the fact that at home I am connected to my Wi-Fi so its not constatly searching for a tower to get information to my phone.

Ok so just to make sure I understand, about using the Wi-Fi. If I set it up to use the Wi-fi do I need to turn off the mobile data? Is that how that works?

If WIFI connects Mobile Data remains on but all data comes thru the wireless until WIFI is disabled or loses connection. You can disable Mobile Data anytime and save some battery. If you arte in range of a WIFI access point allot I would use the wireless especially if you are in a weak cell signal area, weak signal equals more battery use resulting in faster drain.

Its better if you do sinc it is not being used, wifi has taken over.A couple of other things you might want to look at: 1.Check what is running in the background, you would be surprised, turn them off as well if not needed. 2. Disable sync which will eat up battery if you do not need to constantly check for email. I use a widget to turn on and off with one click which is real nice when I want to check for email

I am experiencing the same problem with battery life. Pre-Froyo, I was thrilled with my battery life--I used to brag about it to my friends with other Android phones, who had to charge their phones multiple times per day. Mine would last almost two days!
Last night, I went to bed with the battery at 100% and this morning woke up with 42%. What gives?
I will try that bump procedure. Fingers crossed!

Worked for me. I did not clear battery stats and went from 6 hours to 26 hours and still holding 40%. This seems to be what I was getting before the update.

Since the update to 2.2 I have had to recharge my battery twice today. It will completely drain in about 15 minutes of viewing something as simple as twitter. Before update I charged the phone every night and it lasted all day. What changed?
Battery life has been hit and miss with Froyo. Some like yourself report horrible life and some report not much if any difference than Eclair (2.1).
I have been reading on this and a couple other forums about folks having allot of issues with the stock version of Froyo in the short time it has been officially out. I hope it wasn't released to soon.
