4.0.4 slowly rolling out

Per another website (that I'm afraid to link due to the banning by Moderator) Verizon is slowly pushing official 4.0.4 OTA update today to us Galaxy Nexus owners.

Anyone get the update yet? I've been trying but no luck so far. Updates usually roll out in waves and can take up to a few weeks... here's hoping it's not too long of a wait.

There are supposed new radio software updates that may fix the dreaded problems we've all been facing. I'm trying to be optimistic, I would really like to be able to use mine to make actual phone calls. Hurry up with this update VZW please!!

We are just other users like yourself, so no one can confirm anything.

The VZW employees who occasionally roam the community usually don't know either until the update is officially being pushed out to users.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Yes but we all have contacts.  I guess I am saying: Verizon needs to say something.  Right now all we have is a 4.0.4 build someone captured from the Google server(which I will not divulge), no word from Verizon and no way to be assured that when we put this stuff on our phone that we're covered under warranty and will not jeopardize access to services (Verizon, Google, Amazon's....anyones).

I applaud Verizon for having this forum, but they have been less than transparent on this stuff.  I'd feel better about not seeing updates if they actually said why.

The source of info from droid-life .com said (along with screenshots from stores) that corporate users, vzw staff, and display phones are the first ones to get 4.0.4, and most got it on 5/1/2012. ...what I hear, anyway.

I've pressed the "check for updates" probably a thousand times, but no dice.

Same here.  Even pulled the sim and let everything sit for a bit before powering up.  I guess I will get it when I get it.  I am too chicken to do the root stuff and I did that on my G1 back in the day.  So done with that....

I was told by Samsung many months ago to watch their website for news of an update and that we would all be notified when the update was coming ahead of time.  I really want to believe it is coming....I really want this phone to work.

Same here. I was told by both Verizon and Samsung that an update was expected in mid-March. Then late March, then early April.... here we are and it looks like it's rolling out, but 24 hours later, I still do not have the update.

The new radios are Garbage. Getting 700K down and 1.2M up

I'm going to factory reset the thing and see if it fixes the issue.

Oh yeah Moderator, why don't you forward these conversations to Dan Mead, see what he says, and if he's willing to call up Sirgey in Mountain View?

I haven't received it. I checked on the Galaxy Nexus page and the the only software update listed is ICS53L. I'm also registered with Samsung and have no received any notice that a software update was going to become available. Samsung says on their website that registered users will receive notification of a pending software update before it goes live. I'm really starting to wonder if any of this is true.....hopefully I'm wrong.

My biggest problem is very poor signal strength on CDMA with frequent dropped calls.

Signal strengths:

LTE = -106 dBm

CDMA = -120 dBm

I hope the update fixes this.

LTE is pretty much nonexistent.  I live a quarter mile from the tower in a medium sized metro area that is supposed to be well covered.  I can see the tower as I type.  My signal strength in my home ranges from -109 dbm - -120 dbm.  Unacceptable.  The I phones and other androids in the home get excellent signals.  Dropped calls, dropped wi fi signal, the call quality is unreal.  Crackling, squeaks, squelching noises along with major static and then eventually the other person can't hear me.  Talking on this phone for longer than five minutes is like nails on a chalkboard.  I had to have my home phone reinstalled because I was getting so many complaints. I use my phone for business.  The phone company is courting me with their cellphone service.  I am an original GNEX owner.  I was willing to be patient.  I have been led to believe this fix was coming.  There are all kinds of articles from December of 2011 detailing the issues and the Verizon knew and was aware.  Well, here we are at the beginning of May.  PLEASE WHEN SOMEONE GETS THE UPDATE...PLEASE LET THE OTHERS KNOW.

I have may suggestions but can't mention them here without my references being removed from the VM. Do a web search 4.04 manual updates. The results will astound you as well as the options you will have that you may not have known.

What a surprise still no update on my phone. I swear I hate Verizon. If I

don't get it by the end of this week I'm going to another carrier!

I have been on the dark side of the Force (Verizon Wireless) for many years and slowly realizing that Verizon is a prominent moral, philosophical, and psychic concept. Verizon Wireless has portrayed itself as an evil aspect of the Wireless Universe, which I have been attempting to advocate using the light side of the force but fail due to their controlling nature. So I thought get a Galaxy Nexus and all would be good again. I should have known that Verizon would never give full control of a device to Google. Verizon has tarnished the Nexus brand, shame on them! Don't get me wrong...I am enjoying my Galaxy Nexus (now that it's unlocked and <deleted per TOS>) however I have plans to give it up soon due to how Verizon handled the launch plus the lack of support the device has received since I've had it. I would sooner pay an early termination fee than continue to over-pay for a wireless plan my phone can't utilize. So soon I will say farewell to the dark side (Verizon) Galaxy Nexus and hello to the Galaxy S III GSM version, the light side of the force. Free to choose! Free to choose! Thank God Almighty, I am free to choose! Carrier control over me, Verizon does not!

Sadly I have only ever been with Verizon. It's like I have been in an abusive relationship for years and I kept saying "they beats me cause they loves me, and oh I just walked into the punches. Well I have been beat on for long enough and it's time to fight back!

FYI for what it is worth.  Just got off the phone with Samsung and they tell me that NO the 4.0.4 update has NOT been released and to watch the Samsung website for news about the release.  They do not know at this time when it will be released.  They are very sorry for the inconvenience.

Oh, so I have been told by Verizon that they are testing the update but is not ready for the general public.  They don't have a date but it could be coming soon.  Who really knows what is going on??  What a debacle!!!  So I guess there is no need for us to keep checking for the update.
