Acording to the Verizon data sheet on 4.4.2 (http://www.verizonwireless.com/dam/support/pdf/system_update/galaxy_s3-6-19-14.pdfhttp://) The lockscreen should no longer contain the 4 icons but instead the single camera icon. Additionally the new emoji should be accessed by a long press on the period. None of these seem to have appeared (I have two S3's and a friend has another, all three updated and all three say they have 4.4.2 in the about screen but none of them reflect the enhancments). Am I missing something??

Emoji's are there. To access you open the keyboard. Press on the speaker icon on bottom left, this will open a submenu. Click on the smiley face to get all the emoji's.

Some 'enhancements' are not available to every device. The S3 being an older device, Google may have seen a reason not to include them in the S3 update. You could always try contacting them directly, as they code Android updates.

That does not makes sense. The data sheet at the link is provided by Verizon specific to the Galaxy SIII. I get that not all updates are not given across devices but the data sheet is made specifically for the S3 to list the "enhancments" for the S3, it lists no other devices.

Interesting.
Have you tried doing a hard reset? It's a hassle, but recommended after a major update.

Well there those emoji are! Not a very intuitive location at all compared the S5 that puts the smiley right there by the text box. Still not sure why I have all 4 icons on the lock screen tho when it should just be the camera? As for a "hard reset" not sure what you mean, I've restarted and pulled the battery... if you mean a factory reset then no and I won't. I've had every flavor of android and never had to factory reset for an update.

I'd also like to add that the non-intuitive placement of the emoji also seems to leave you with no way to access them if you are using the actual full Swype-Dragon keyboard. I was optimistic when I saw the .pdf file that the messaging app would look like the one on the S5 since that is what was pictured. Oh well, perhaps in the next update. If anyone figures out how to make the lock screen look like the one pictured in the .pdf, please let me know. Thank you.
