Look at his device. It isn't on ANY Samsung phone that matter and he is already asking when. Nexus devices has an unfair advantage as the code was specifically made for their devices first. Just because the source code was released doesn't mean it is "out"  Aside from the PDK OEM didn't see any real code until a couple days ago. Realistically people should start asking God the question when it is coming out no earlier than 2 months from now.

Google says on their website that carriers should be sending it out this week, not an unfair advantage, it's not my fault he didn't opt for the pure android experience and now has to wait while bloatware is added... And please keep your god to yourself... I frankly want what I paid for.

My Nexus 6 came without bloatware, which made me happy. As far as the OTA update, I'll get it when it comes. I'm in no rush. The carriers need to make sure it will work with their system...or so they say. And like you, I got the Nexus for speedier updates, although I knew Verizon would slow things down a bit.

Again... read the device in question. This is asking about the Note5. Also the Nexus was used to develop Android. Of course they'd get the update first. That's why it is an unfair advantage.

Let's say we both had to make a car. Let's say I got the blueprints months before you do, and I got to use it and you couldn't do anything until I am finished using them. Do you consider that an unfair advantage? Just some food for thought.

The point of the NEXUS program is ANDROID controls the updates, we are supposed to get them when available, without Verizon bloatware.   I want Verizon to tell me why they are delaying this update.

What does the Nexus program have to do with the Note 5?

Nothing, but the question remains the same, when are we getting our marshmallow update

Which Nexus do you have?  Google releases it on the new Nexus which they did when they started selling the new ones.  Previous editions will be updated in reverse order and even Google has a cutoff for how far back they will go on updating.  So for your question the answer is when Google is good and ready to push it out.  For our question the answer is when Samsung and Verizon get done messing with it and come up with an agreement about it.

I have a nexus 6, Google has sent it out, they say contact your carrier... Just very frustrating

L0L wow so somehow Verizon got refusal rights to the Nexus software updates too?  Well then I guess give it 6 months for the regression testing.

I would go to Android Central for the answer. Go to the forums and find the one for your phone. And although 6.0 is already rolling out, it does take some time for Verizon to clear it for their phones. I have a Nexus 6 and don't expect to get the 6.0 update for a few months because we still have to for Verizon to clear it.

That's the point of the nexus program, updates SHOULD NOT be Verizon dependant... Give us the pure android program we paid dearly for, get your fingers (and bloatware) out of our phone

So, let me put it this way.  Lollipop was released in November of 2014.  I had a Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet Verizon edition.  Sony released a Lollipop update for the Sony Xperia Z2 tablet in March of this year.  The Verizon version is on the list for the update but as of the middle of September when I traded it in we still had not received the update.  That was more than 6 months after the release of the software for the tablet which was more than 5 months after the release of the new Android version.

From what I can tell it takes Verizon about 6 months to verify updates.  That may be because they find errors and those have to be fixed.  I have not seen it take less than that.  So when we would get the update would depend on how quickly Samsung got on reworking the Marshmallow source code to the phone and their unique additions and how many defects Verizon finds when they do their intense QA, and how long it takes for Verizon to add in their unique additions and subtractions with their own developers and agreements with bloatware providers.

The simple answer is that most likely you will be asking where the Nutella update is before you ever get Marshmallow.
