I have had this issue since my phone was replaced about a month ago with the latest version of s/w (the vibrator feature was DOA on my first phone).  The battery used to last 7-8 hours w/o having to recharge, but in 2.2, it lasts at most 3-4 hours.  I have to plug it in wherever I go - car, office PC, home charger.  Once I was out all day at an outdoor festival, and had to keep my phone charging in my car which was on accessory mode (slightly draining ITS battery) simply to keep the phone alive!  How ridiculous is that??  My b/f has the exact same problem with his new Fascinate, which he received w/in a couple of weeks of my receiving my new one.

In the store, Verizon acknowledged the problem and suggested I call Samsung.  Their tech support flat-out denied ANY REPORTED ISSUES with the phone, which is totally ABSURD!   They too suggested a hard reset (wiping the phone), which I will now never try based on feedback on this forum thread (thanks to everyone for that info!).  I am tempted to call them back and find someone to whom to send a link to this thread so they can see a slice of reality.

Yes, I have had problems with the battery since the update.  At the store they told me my battery is old. My phone is only about 6 months old!  I've just about had it!

A coworker who has a Droid (not a Fascinate though) told me that he has no problems with Droid OS version 2.3 340.  Does anyone know anything about this?  Did they actually fix the memory issue?  I feel like I have a landline again - I need to plug my phone in wherever I go...ugh!

Good News!  Verizon is now allowing you to exchange the Fascinate!  We personally chose the Samsung Charge since it is so similar to the Fascinate. I believe the HTC Incredible and Droid X2 were the other options.  The phones are sent through Fed Ex to satisfy the warranty requirements and there was no charge for the exchange!

Verizon's been doing that for a couple weeks now.  Look at some of the other threads in the forum for more details.

Glad you got to trade yours in.

I Would not trade this for any phone that Verizon Has PERIOD

I Can not believe how this phone is running if this is the one Verizon is going to OTA it is Great

So either wait for OTA or go to XDA and do some reading

I took advantage of the replacement offer and got an HTC Incredible 2.  So far so good.  I am very pleased with Verizon's proactive stance in offering replacement phones.  Don't go to a Verizon store, they have their own budgets and are not in a hurry to give away replacement phones.  Call the Verizon support desk if you want a replacement phone.

Count me in.  I have also for the first time been having troubles with pictures, gallery, and other apps running slow. I use the picture frame widget and when I chose a pic it places a totally different pic.  Strange.  my phone did freeze for the first time ever just 2 days ago and my phone became extreemly warm.  I  turned it off and left it off for sometime and turned it back on and have not had that happpen since.  Sometimes when I am getting into an app, my phone reverts back to the home page.  I love the addition to the calendar for bi-weekly added to the repeat option.  I do like that all the widgets are together rather than with two seperate options.  I hope these bugs get resolved.  I truely love my phone.  I just have been slightly frustrated in stead of facinated the past week.

I agree.  Battery life as well as a few other things are not working well at all after the update.  We need to reverse this update!

I got the update and since then, my battery does not last more then 6 hours and I do not use my phone at all during the day.  I have found that  something called sensorserver_ya is using 30% of my battery.  It seems this is happening to a lot of people yet there doesnt' seem to be a way to stop it from running.  Hopefully someone will figure it out so I can go thru the day without my phone dying

Since my Samsung Fascinate updated to Froyo 2.2, my battery life has been terrible!!!  I make sure that I close all programs each time I exit, through the Task Manager on the phone.  Since the update I will lose a minimum of 50% of my battery life in an 8 hour period.  My phone will be fully charged when I go to bed and be in stand by mode the whole night.  When I wake up 6-8 hours later, my battery life is down to less than 40%.  This is ridicules!!!

Hello fellow community members,

I would like to provide some causes for the battery issues and some solutions. They are notated as such below.

Issues affecting a battery's charge

·        Signal strength and coverage.

·        Switching between 3G/4G and 1X

·        Switching between Verizon Wireless and Extended Network

·        Roaming

·        Battery age.

·        Verizon Wireless recommends replacing the battery with a new manufacturer approved battery once per year

·        Lack of use.

·        Non-voice services usage.

·        V CAST Video or other video services (Youtube, etc)

·        playing music

·        VZ Navigator

·        Push To Talk

·        internet access

·        Media Center (Get It Now)

·        Messaging (TXT / PIX / FLIX / Mobile IM / Email)

·        Bluetooth and/or wi-fi

·        applications running in the background

Tips to help improve battery life

·                    Keep wifi/gps/bluetooth off when not needed.

·                    Keep your brightness settings at auto (at least) if not a lower setting.

·                    Avoid using Live Wallpaper’s as these use more battery life. (Use darker backgrounds as these require less use of the screen.)

·                    Avoid apps that tend to require using a lot of data connection (or keep them off when not needed.)

·                    Reduce the sync intervals on your accounts (i.e. Google, Facebook etc.)

As always, you can check you settings on your phone. Go to Settings > about phone > Battery Use. This will give you a break down of where you are using the most power. From there you can decide what to adjust. As always, you can get additional assistance for your individual device at www.verizonwireless.com/support.

Hope this helps…
