Anyone else lost the "silent" phone ring option after Froyo 2.2 update?

I somehow can't silence my phone anymore, the only option is to put it on vibrate. :smileysad:

Go to ->Settings->Sound Settings->Vibrate. Here are the options you should see

  • Always
  • Never
  • Only in silent mode
  • Only when not in silent mode

Yes for some reason Froyo did away with it(at least on volume button).  I suggest taking a look in the Market might find something there.

Hold down the power button.  Silent mode is the first option in that list now.

Or did I misunderstand what's lost?

Holding down the power button shows silent mode but it is vibrate mode. Try this:

Settings>Sound Settings>Check silent mode>set vibrate to "only when not in silent mode"

**Not sure if stock froyo has these options**

I definitely misunderstood.

I had already set "Vibrate" to "Only when not in Silent" so my "Silent' always was "Silent."

Changed that setting to "Only in Silent Mode" found that the silent was really "Vibrate."

I have changed it back so silent is "Silent."

(Stock Froyo does have those options.  :smileyvery-happy:)

Then the update broke "Vibrate" because when I choose Silent there, my phone silences and does not Vibrate.

Incorrect.  If the vibrate is set to "only not when in silent mode" I posted above the power button option will totally silent the phone, any other setting sets to vibrate.

Again I'm not running "stock" froyo mine may be different.

Agreed.

OP just needs to change that setting to "Only when not in silent mode" or to "Never" and then his phone will have a silent "Silent" by pressing the power button, no?

Yes! incredibly annoying. We need to get this back. I am also experiencing problems with the phone not ringing at times and then I see I missed a call when the phone was 2 feet away from me.
