Battery Charge Not Happening Consistantly With Gingerbread

Ever since the Gingerbread update, my phone has had issues with charging.  Under Froyo, this was not a problem.

Here's the deal...

I plug in the device to charge up, it seems to get to 100% and then starts to drain power while plugged in.  It will still display as 100% while plugged in, but once I unplug it well after it hits the 100% point, it then shows what the battery actually is at (ex. 67%).  You might ask why I don't unplug it when it hits 100%, but some of those times are when I'm sleeping.  When I wake up, it says 100%, but when I disconnect it from the charger, it'll really be like 80% and will display that immediately.

One day I had it plugged via USB to my work computer, it showed 100% the entire time.  I was listening to streaming radio all day and because I wanted to be sure it would be fully charged at the end of my day, I kept it plugged in.  When I unplugged, the battery was really only at 6% and gave me an immediate warning about my critical battery level.  Again, this never was a problem before GIngerbread.

I did a battery pull to see if that would right the ship and I initially thought that it had for a day or two, but I just noticed that the issue returned this morning after taking it off the overnight charge and only showed up at 80% upon disconnect.  The only thing I can think of that could have thrown it off is that I restarted my phone yesterday -- maybe that brought the problem back?

This isn't really a battery life issue as I've read in other posts.  I'm not noticing any problems with how long the charge last.  The only problem I'm having is getting it charged to 100% and keeping it that way until I unplug it.

Sorry for the length, but I wanted to be descriptive of the issue.  Anyone else have this problem since Gingerbread?  Any solutions?

I tweeted the issue to the Verizon Support account, and the response I got was "Well, send us your phone, and we will look it over to see if we see an issue, and if so, we will fix it and get it back to you"...

  Yea, right......

It is going on 3 months and No one has even had the curtsy to reply back

But have plenty of time to reply to someone getting a new phone

Is Samsung going to fix the trickle charge

bet I would get a answer if I was talking about upgrading to a new phone

Which I will most likely do with a different carrier

I have been experiencing the same issue since the OTA Gingerbread update. BUT...I don't think the problem is a lack of trickle charging. I have plugged my phone in on both the wall & car chargers & charged it JUST to the point where it SAYS it's 100% & then unplugged it immediately. Every time, since the Gingerbread update the battery level has been significantly below 100% (71, 67, 83...not even in the 90s). If I then plug it back in, it starts charging again & SEEMS to charge faster, but still never gets QUITE all the way to 100%, but it does come close.

So...where do we go from here?? Is it easy to go back to Froyo?

Aside from the huge charging defect mentioned here I am getting the impression that the phone is managing the battery life a bit better than before. Prior to gingerbread, my phone drained alarmingly fast. Now I'm seeing major improvement in how long it stays in the 30 - 60 % range.

I realize many things affect this - running apps, cell strength, etc. But it seems better.

Hate the charging thing. Like the power management....

The trickle charge issue is apparently one of the first reported bugs with some devices.  It is in the software and not a battery issue. There are fixes but those type of tweaks are not permitted to be discussed on these boards. As posted above, Google is your friend.

@  Is there an actual tweak for this issue specifically or does the fix require a full install of GB?  Not looking for specifics, but just a general sense if the issue itself has been isolated.  I know what fixing it will likely require, but just wondering if it's a targeted fix or elaborate fix that will do many things.

The fix is actually part of another process.  Sent you a PM with a little more information.

@KISSman,

I'm sorry to hear you are having charging issue with your Fascinate after the SW update. You may have to perform a hard reset on your phone. Sometimes a hard reset is needed after a software update. This should help with the charging issue you are experiencing.

If after the hard reset you are still having the same charges issues, please post back and I will be more than happy to further assist you.

I Have 3 Fascinates 2 are active one is not

They all do it on the one that is not active I did a factory hard reset and it is still doing it even though there have been 0 apps installed

My point is it is the problem is in the firmware  eh03

The problem did not exist in the ed05 firmware

It is a firmware not hardware problem and my battery's are fine

PLEASE GET SAMSUNG TO FIX PLEASE
