Since it's just a patch I don't think you will see any better performance , just fixes a few bugs.
Other than a pdf file I see no evidence of the existence of the update, I guess when someone actually downloads this update we can have an opinion on it, of course it is always possible that it is only my phone the one that can't see this update or download it.
My phone cannot see the update as well, but it's there!

I think this update is only for people who are still on EA28. I haven't heard of anyone going from ED01 to ED03, they are the same thing. The ED03 update is only two days newer and fixes a bug that wouldn't allow people to download ED01
If you are currently on Froyo ED01 you might have to revert back to the original 2.1 Eclair to get it since it doesn't seem to update from the latest release. Alot of work and probably not worth it.
My wife's Fascinate still on 2.1 because it will not complete the install of 2.2. Yesterday Verizon sent to her phone the ED03 update and it will not install on her phone either, so much for the fix. My phone had to be replaced in order for 2.2 to install and I am sure her phone will also need to be replaced. We bought the original phones they sold back in September and I believe there is a problem with some of those phones that will not allow them to install 2.2.

Her phone had to be replaced, the new phone works fine and is on ED03, mine is on ED01. They are both working correctly at this time.
Just bought a Fascinate...to take advanage of the REDICULOUS sale online of 50 bucks, I couldnt buy in store for two reasons: 1. they didnt have it
2. its a "phase out phone"
Upon leaving the store, (literally as I was walking to the car after turning the phone on) the phone asked me to update. I am assuming this was a ED01 to 03 update as there was no real discernable difference in the phone that I noticed. Now I realize that I didnt check to confirm but everything seemed to be the same...this was around the 25th or so of May...
I've been compusively checking.
I'm not that in great of coverage area, I'll check when I get home.
