FROYO 2.2 UPDATE FOR SAMSUNG FASCINATE

Today 3/13/2011  I again wrote to samsung for an explanation as to what is taking so long to get the 2.2 update out for us fascinate owners the following is the response I received from Samsung ...

Thank you for your inquiry.

We do apologize for the inconvenience.  Regarding your concern, Samsung feels it is important to make the Android 2.2/Froyo upgrade available only after we feel that we can give the millions of U.S. Galaxy S owners a simple and reliable upgrade experience. Due to the complexity and unique functionality of each Galaxy S device, we are performing additional testing and are working to make the Android 2.2/Froyo upgrade available to all U.S. Galaxy S owners, as soon as possible.

Should this be available, it will be posted in our website or you will be informed by your service provider.

Please feel free to check with us periodically for updates

Thank you for your continued interest in Samsung products.

Sincerely,

Hi.

Verizon Wireless began pushing Android 2.2, Froyo, to the Samsung Fascinate on April 21, 2011.  Enhancements include support for Adobe Flash Player.  You can visit www.verizonwireless.com/fascinatesupport for more information and download instructions for the software update. Customers will also be able to download the update manually by going to Settings > About Phone > Update Phone.

Thank you for your patients,

With the many months that have passed, samsung and verizon still have not released the froyo update, it does not look like we will ever get the froyo update or gingerbread! They have not even made a statement as to how much longer it will be before we get the update.

If they are not going to release it then they should allow their customers to R&R their cells with the understanding that if it turns into a brick then samsung and verizon will replace it with a new cell that has at least froyo 2.2 on it! What would be better is to allow us to swap our cells for the cell of our choice, like the Apple iPhone 4.

Thanks to all our Community Members for the feedback. We apologize for any delay; we understand and truly do appreciate your excitement concerning the impending release of Froyo 2.2 for the Samsung Fascinate.  We do ask your continued patience as we address the update concerns. The update was announced at CED 2011, but at this time we do not have a date as to when it will be available since we do not want to set a specific date that may or may not be met with the update delivery.

Please understand that Verizon Wireless will release the stable finished update to you as soon as it is ready.  We are committed to giving you the best, and we will not release the update until we are confident that it will run smoothly without issues or bugs. We again appreciate your understanding and patience concerning this matter.

Sincerely,

Either verizon is playing dumb or you just don't get it. You said "We understand and truly do appreciate your excitement." The excitement you are talking about was the excitement that we had when we were first promised froyo months ago. The excitement has worn off long ago and has turned into anger and frustration! If this is how you treat your "Valued Customers" do you really expect us to stay with you when our contracts run out!?

Explain to us how two giant companies, samsung and verizon, cannot get the froyo update out when devs from XDA can do it in weeks???

At least someone from VZW replied, but this doesn't address the issue that we Fascinate owners were sold a bill of goods.  When I purchased this phone 6 months ago, I was told that Froyo would be released "shortly".  That was important to me so I could use Flash.  6 months is not shortly, it's 25% of my 2 year contract!  At a minimum, VZW should either allow us to change to another phone free of charge, or credit us the purchase price.

Folks FROYO is out there, go get it and don't worry about the official version.  Enough of the waiting game madness these fools are putting you through.

Forget about sumsung for now and concentrate on verizon being a loyal customer and spending money with them every month is enough. they should be the one to put foot to butt to samsung. with pressure for its customer and i mean everyone it makes things happen lets get it together.

I have been running froyo for two months. It is very stable.

But follow the Money who has most to gain.

I don't think it is samsung

I think it is Verizon it won't come out until verizon is ready and I think it is all to do with marketing.

Samsung has a stable build done and it has been done.

So it will most likley will never  come out.It might hurt sales of new phones and contracts.

samsung is trying to fix a problem with froyo NO OTHER MANUFACTURER HAS TRIED TO FIX. so, of coarse they don't know how long it will take.

Your are exactly right, the fascinate is a well built device. The only reasons I can think of is, Samsung is to busy working out the kinks in the next generation galaxy phones. Two, from a marketing standpoint, it wouldn't make sense to update the current phone and release a new one; that would hurt potential Sales. I am guessing it will probably be around June or July before we get the froyo update.

It must be an autoresponse... Funny, I got the same exact message when I asked Samsung about the update to 2.2... Actually it's lame not funny! That's why I returning my phone back to Verizon Fedex in the morning. I had this phone 13 days today and when I tried to d/l some apps from the market last week, I got a message telling that my OS was old and I needed to update my OS.... Geez, I just got this phone, but will return in the morning and wait for the HTC Incredible 2 to go on sale shortly will a 4.0 screen and 2.3

I can not understand why some people think they are trying to work out some problem.

I am not having any problems with froyo.

It is a solid build. GPS =GREAT, Battery=Like 2.1, Force Closes =none

Email=Great,Usb to Computer=Great, Bloatware=Full

 It all seams to be all there and all working Great.

Samsung=Done

It has to be a Marketing thing.

SELL MORE NEW PHONES AND CONTRACTS

they are working out the battery draining tenancy with cdma devices. it's a well known issue, and it has been documented that samsung isn't happy with this, and it's one of the reason updates have been pulled on other carriers. it's not  myth.

I Also just recently got froyo and see no problem with anything I honestly think they are just trying to sell new products to and they dont give a **bleep** about support for the ones already out there. I'm starting to become anti samsung and anti verizon
