:womanvery-happy:Stop worrying about getting froyo or Gingerbread because it's not coming to the Fascinate and concentrate on helping people here with problems and things they don't know how to do with the Fascinate that's what this forum is all about. If you wanted a phone with Froyo or Gingerbread you should have bought one with it, it is what it is and you got what you yourself bought!

You need to take your negative attitude about getting Froyo/Gingerbread and leave this forum.  Most of us still believe that Samsung WILL come through and provide us with an update!  If you call Samsung, they will tell you they are having difficulty providing a reliable upgrade but they are adamant about providing an update!   ...and another thing, most of us bought the Fasciante because of the remarkable screen (appearance) and many other features - the operating system was not on everyone's mind at the time of purchase.  Now, with upgrades for other phones happening all across the world, we simply feel we have been left out - rightfully so!......

What does that have to do with Fascinate? They will not put on Fascinate because the phone itself has problems and the updates will make matters worse

I tend to agree.  I'd say 95% of the problems are going to either be related to an app the user has installed or something not working the way they think it should because Android wasn't designed that way.  There are genuine issues but those are likely in the minority.

As for the Froyo leaks, DL30 was flaky mainly because it wasn't a full build.  EB01 worked pretty much flawlessly for me while I was running it prior to going the Super Clean route.  The one main bug with the Froyo build was that if standalone GPS was enabled, it wouldn't let the CPU sleep thus draining the battery.  That was solved by disabling GPS when not using it and battery life was on par with the previous official builds for myself and a lot of others.

And yes, my profile now says Thunderbolt.  Sold my Fascinate to some poor soul for $250.  I upgraded not because there was anything wrong with the phone that inhibited daily use but because of the slowness in the development community with the Fascinate due to lack of updates and source code being release.  I initially went Android for the development potential with the OG Droid and that just wasn't there with the Fascinate.  Definitely wasn't due to the lack of effort by the few brave developers willing to tackle Samsung's mess though.

I am not saying the phone is bad itself what I have been trying to say is they wont put Froyo etc OS on Fascinate because it has issues with this phone and Verizon wants it to be right. I like my phone the way it is but will get The Revolution when it comes out, almost got the Thunderbolt until I found it didnt have HDMI for TV.

I briefly considered the Revolution as it should be the first device to support voLTE but LG is unproven in the high end android device market.  Their low end Optimus line did well but there are still more questions than answers.  Plus Verizon has now done away with 1 yr contracts on consumer lines and there's no ETA on when the'll go with tiered data plans.  It's also a little disappointing that it's just a gimped Optimus 2X.

Now you have me thinking about the Revolution, I have always had LG but not their smartphones so will do some more checking. Now I was told to get a 4G phone now to get grandfathered in on the data plan so they cant jump it when it's up and running everywhere. And Verizon rep told me that but I was thinking same thing before I asked

Based on my past experience with Verizon/Samsung smartphones (Omnia, Omnia II) I'd say Verizon has virtually zero concern with ensuring updates are "right." They're more concerned that the updates include their useless bloatware that you might be dumb enough to get a paid subscription to.

There are other CDMA/EVDO Fascinates in the US, on much smaller carriers with far fewer resources, and they've got Froyo. The folks at XDA can put the newest release of Android on in a week or two with virtually no problems. That means either Samsung or Verizon is either intentionally holding out to spur new sales, or they're just plain incompetent.

The Fascinate will get the Froyo update eventually, but probably only because of the stink kicked up about it. I firmly believe the original plan was to abandon the phone at Eclair, and wait for folks to upgrade to a newer device to get Froyo. And, at this point, I think they may be waiting for the Charge to release, to see how many folks will give up, upgrade and recommit to an extended contract (Since the Charge is essentially a Fascinate with Froyo). Then, a month or two after release, out comes the Fascinate update they've been sitting on for 3 months.

Here is my latest chat with Samsung:

Sylvester: Hi, thank you for contacting Samsung Technical Support. How may I help you today?
Terry: I am having a problem with my Fascinate and my car dock that I purchased with the phone.
Terry: I am trying to play music from the phone through the car dock and plugged into the aux port on my car radio. I know the aux port works fine, I use my iPod on it.
Sylvester: I understand that you are not able to play Music from your car dock, am I correct?
Terry: Correct, from my phone while plugged into the car dock.
Sylvester: Thanks for confirming.
Sylvester: I am sorry, but the phone has to be updated to Android 2.2 to use the Card Dock. I am sorry for the inconvenience.
Terry: So I purchased the car dock for nothing then? I will never be able to play music through it?
Sylvester: Well, I am sorry but you will have to wait until an update is released.
Terry: That was 1 of my main reasons for moving from just a plain phone to a smart phone, to get rid of the iPod I was using to play music.
Sylvester: Samsung is working closely with Verizon Wireless to complete the Android 2.2/Froyo platform upgrade for the Fascinate Smartphone as quickly as possible. Due to the complexity and unique functionality of the Fascinate, we are performing additional testing and are working to assure consumer satisfaction with the update.
Sylvester: I understand your concern and you have chosen one of the best phones available in the Market.
Terry: I know you did not just type that in, you copied and pasted that response.
Terry: I have been following other phones and their upgrades, and I see everyone else getting them, is there a reason the Fascinate is not getting the upgrade? Did I make a mistake in purchasing this phone?
Sylvester: As I said, Fascinate is one of the  best phones available in the Market and you haven't made any mistake. I am sure you will not regret buying this phone.
Terry: But without a 2.2 update, then I cannot play music through the dock into my radio, correct?
Sylvester: Yes, you are correct.
Sylvester: Is there anything else that I can assist you with?
Terry: Is there any timeframe for the upgrade?
Terry: I need to know, because if it is not scheduled to get the upgrade, then I need to go complain to Verizon about my purchase, because when I bought the phone, the salesman knew exactly what I wanted it for, and what I was using it for.
Sylvester: I am sorry, but there is no official information about the release date as of now, should there be an update, it would be notified on your phone and will be updated in our website.,
Terry: That is what I am hearing from both Samsung and Verizon. I am getting really upset, I purchased the phone and dock with good intentions, I pay my bill on time, I love the phone and actually talked others into purchasing the Fascinate, and my wife has the Continuum.
Terry: I just don't understand why the Fascinate is being passed over, and ignored for the updates.
Sylvester: I understand your concern and I am really sorry about the inconvenience caused due to the delay in the release of the update.
Terry: Does it have to do with the Bing integration?
Sylvester: Well, I guess not.
Terry: I think that both the Fascinate and Continuum are the only Verizon phones that have Bing as the search engine.
Terry: Is there other Samsung phones that use Bing as the default search engine?
Sylvester: Well, the Fascinate is the only Galaxy S with Bing.
Terry: The Continuum has it also, does it not?
Terry: Or is that phone not considered a Galaxy S Phone?
Sylvester: Yes, the Galaxy S from Verizon.
Sylvester: The Galaxy phones from Verizon, they have it because Samsung Manufactures the phones according to the Specifications provided by the Carrier
Terry: I am sorry if I come across upset, it is just that I know alot of people have complained to Samsung about things not working with the phone, and I didn't really pay too much attention to it until I tried to use the car dock with music.
Terry: It is just upsetting to hear someone tell me that I cannot use the equipment for what I purchased it for. I know others have talked to the Federal Trade Commission in regards to the practice of selling something knowing that it does not work 100% of the what was promised.
Sylvester: I understand your concern and I know this is frustrating, but as I said we are working on the Update and  Samsung and Verizon Wireless appreciate the patience and understanding from consumers who decided to purchase the Fascinate.
Sylvester: Samsung will continue to keep consumers advised of our progress.
Terry: I hope it comes soon. I will give Verizon until the end of April, and once it hits May 1st, I will be talking to Verizon about taking this phone back and giving me something that works 100% of what it is supposed to do. I think the Fascinate is a fantastic phone, I love the size of it, and I love the screen on it. I just hope the update does not come too late.
Sylvester: Thanks for choosing Samsung.
Sylvester: I am really sorry again for the inconvenience.
Sylvester: Is there anything else that I can assist you with?
Terry: Just tell the developers that they need to get it out ASAP, otherwise Samsung may have a problem selling computer equipment in the US in the future. I know there are alot of upset people.
Terry: Please.
Sylvester: I will sure convey this message to the concerned department.
Terry: Thank you, that is all I needed.
Terry: Have a good day.

Sandy,

With respect.  Perhaps you should follow your own advice and concentrate on helping others on the forum and ignore the posts about Froyo.  It doesn't take much to just skip over the post titles that have to do with Froyo and concentrate on those you seem so desperate to help.  Let the people who are upset about the lack of a 2.2 update on Fascinate speak their piece.  You don't have to read or participate if you don't want to.

Further, why should anyone here believe you and your statements that the Fascinate will never get the update?  Who are you?  How do we know that you really are in the know?  To everyone else here, you are simply another anonymous person who claims to know someone who knows someone.  Honestly, your opinion is just as much rumor as anyone elses until publicly verified by either Samsung or Verizon and it carries no more weight than any other rumor.

Could you be right and the Fascinate will never get the update?  Sure, but for all we know, you could be blowing smoke.  Now if you were willing to name names so that your statements could be verified, then you might have more credibility.

So just let everyone have their say and ignore the posts you don't want to deal with.

BTW, to repeat something I said on a different thread.  I know my profile says Thunderbolt, but I do own a Fascinate which my wife uses.....
